Mrs. Rena McGaughey hosted a wedding shower Saturday for Miss Kathy Griffin,bride-elect of Mark Richards.

Mrs. Rena McGaughey
hosted a bridal shower in
her home Saturday for
Miss Kathy Griffin, bride-
elect of Mark Richards.
Guests calling between
the appointed hours of 3
and 5 p.m. were registered
by Miss Carol Richards.
Complimenting the
registry in addition to the
bride's book and feather
pen was a framed poem
written especially for
Kathy by the Rev. Sam
Cathey.
A silk arrangement of
spring flowers in a crystal
and silver container, also a
gift to the bride, was the
centerpiece on the
refreshment table. Silver
appointments were used in
serving by the honoree's
sisters. Konnie presided at
the punch bowl. Karen
served coffee and Kay Kay
served cake squares
Refreshments included,
cake squares decorated
with pink dogwood blooms,
open faced heart shaped
sandwiches swedish nuts,
flower shaped mints, pink
punch and coffee.
Tables displaying the
gifts were set up through-
out the lovely home and
each featured a pastel co-
lored cloth with an ar-
rangement of spring flow-
ers.
The honoree is the
daughter of Mr and Mrs.
Jim Griffin of Husk She is
the granddaughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Lloyd of
Rusk
The prospective
groom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs Chesley Richards
of Rusk.

Honors Bride-elect
Miss Deborah Carlile,
bride-elect of David Chand-
ler, was honored with a
miscellaneous tea shower
from 3:30 to 5:30 Saturday,
Mar. 24 at the home of Mrs.
Grady Dupree.
The bride's chosen colors
of blue and white were
carried out beautifully in
the decor of the home. A
blue cloth with a white net
and satin overlay was used
on the refreshment table
which held a centerpiece of
fresh blue flowers and
greenery.
Mrs. Judy Vermillion
and Mrs. Carmen Seybold
served refreshments of
cake squares decorated in
blue, blue and white mints,
nuts, punch and coffee to
the guests. Silver appoint-
ments were used.
Guests registered as they
arrived at a table featuring
blue and white silk flowers
in a silver container. The
gifts were displayed in the
bedrooms of the home.
Hosting the shower were
Mesdames Clyde Weaver,
Ralph Seybold, W. F. Phil-
lips, Raymond R. Vermil-
lion, D. M. Kelley, Preston
Womack, Thelma Hillin,

at the First Christian

the double ring ceremony.
The marriage vows were
repeated before an arc can-
delabra entwined with
greenery. The arc waa
flanked with candle trees
on either side. These were
complimented with white
columns topped with urns
holding a massive arrange-
ment of white gladiola,
daisies, blue carnations
and baby's breath A gold
Unity Candle candelabra
on a column added an
interesting part in the love-
ly altar setting and the
impressive ceremony
Each window was adorned
with greenery and a candle
arrangement. Pews were
marked with blue ribbon
bows

was pianist with Miss Carla
Green singing "The Wed-
ding Song" and "You Light
Up My Life "
Miss Helen Ann Gober
was organist with Mrs Jay
Pickett singing "One Hand,
One Heart" and "The
Lord's Prayer "
Given in marriage by her
father the bride chose a
formal ivory, imported or-
ganza gown fashioned with
re-embroidered Alencon
lace Molded with lace and
accented with pearls, the
bodice featured a scal-
loped, modified V neckline
and shepherdess sleeves
Motifs of lace beaded with
sugar pearls embellished
the skirt which swept to a
chapel train. A fingertip
illusion mantilla adorned
with Alencon lace compli-
mented the gown. She car-
ried a nosegay of white tea
roses, blue silk flowers,
stephantsis and baby's
breath. As the bride passed
her mother she gave her a
red rose with a kiss and
after the ceremony as she
passed the groom's mother
she gave her a red rose
with a kiss.
Matron of honor was the
bride's sister, Mrs. Ronald
A. Harris of Houston.
Bridesmaids were Miss
Celesta Christopher, of
Houston; Miss Darlene
Pinson, Longview; Mrs.
Jim Heintzelman, Orange;
and Mrs. David Slaton,
Rusk. The attendants wore
matching gowns of blue
Quiana Nylon fashioned in
a peasant style. The neck-
line edged with wide ivory
lace. Each one carried
matching lace fans decor-
ated with blue silk flowers
and ribbon bows. They
wore blue silk flowers in
their hair.
Mr. Richard Spies of
Omaha, Nebraska, brother
of the groom, served as
best man. Groomsmen
were Drew Miles, Ronald
A. Harris, Robert Ketiz-
man and Bob Miller. John
Holsomback of Houston
served as head usher,
assisted by the grooms-
men.
For her daughter's wed-
ding Mrs. Fitts chose a
foam green grecian style
gown. A white orchid cor-
sage complimented her
attire.
The groom's mother
chose a grey chiffon gown
with a jacket edged with
chiffon ruffles. She wore a
white orchid corsage.
Following the ceremony
a reception was held in the
home of the bride's parents
on 1003 East Hill Street.
Hurricane lamps along the
walk lighted the way into
the home where the guests
were received by the bride
and bridegroom along with
their parents.
The bride's table was
covered with a white lace
cloth and held a four tier
wedding on four arm lace
plates. It was decorated
with blue rose buds and the
top layer held two wedding
bells. Punch was served
from a silver bowl. Behind
the table on a column was a
silver wine cooler filled
with a massive arrange-
ment of white gladiola,
