concert Tuesday evening,
October 16 in Nacogdoches
He will perform in the
University Center at
Stephen F Austin Univer
sity
Mc Guire gained wide
spread acclaim in the six
ties as lead singer of the
New Christy Minstrels, for
which he wroe several hil
songs which sold over a
million records The group
appeared in Carnegie Mall
and also performed al the
White House for President
Lyndon B Johnson After
leaving the group. Metiuire

tional notoriety as a solo
performer, while rising to
the top of the popular
music charts
In 1971. disillusioned and
unfulfilled by the life of
fame and fortune, Barry
McGuire became a Christ-
ian Since that time, his life
and music has become a
testimony to the power of
Jesus Christ He has re
corded over a half dozen
albums of contemporary
Christian music and has
toured around the globe,
spreading the message of
the gospel through song He
recently accepted an Invit-
ation from President Car-
ter to perform at the White
House
McGuire now lives with
his wife and children in
Lindale, Texas Tickets for
his performance in Nacog-
doches will be available on
the evening of the concert
