Hassell Honored
By Grandparents
A spaghetti supper
honoring Sonny Hassell, a
1981 Rusk High School
graduate was held recently
in the home of Mr. and Mrs.
B. Morgan of Alto.
The Morgans are Sonny's
grandparents.
Attending the party as
guests were Kenneth Trot-
ter, Scott McNair, Thomas
Warden, Gary Corley and
Hedda Smith.
Included on the menu
were spaghetti with meat
sauce, garden salad, rolls,
iced tea and homemade ice
cream.
The dining table was
covered with a white linen
cloth, centered with a black
wrought-iron candle holder
with three red candles. The
candles were entwined
with English ivy holding a
red and black wooden
silohouettes of a boy and
girl graduate.
The words, "Seniors of
1981," were printed in
white on the base of the
wooden silhouettes. Also
included in the graduation
motif were salt and pepper
shakers which were black
ceramic replicas of the boy
and girl graduate and were
trimmed in white.
Mr. and Mrs. George R.
"Bob" Wallace and Carl
Felder were co-hosts for
the party with the Morgans
to honor their nephew. Mr.
and Mrs. J.L. Hassell of
Rusk, parents of the
honoree, and Hollee Malea
Wallace, cousin of the
honoree, were present for
the party.
Sonny and his guests en-
joyed the evening visiting
with Sonny's grandparents.
NARFE To Meet
Tuesday, 11 a.m.
Cherokee Chapter No.
1805 of the National
Association of Retired
Federal Employees will
meet Tuesday, June 16, at
11 a.m. in the Jacksonville
Station Restaurant on U.S.
79 east of Jacksonville.
Plans will be discussed on
how to increase the number
of members in the local
chapters.
Fred W. Bishop of
Palestine, treasurer for the
Texas Federation of Chap-
ters, was guest speaker at
the May luncheon meeting
stressed the importance of
strength in number. He
urged all federal retirees to
realize the need for
belonging to a local chap-
ter.
He stated that the
ultimate aim of all retirees
was to retire with honor
and dignity in their old age
and this could only be ac-
complished by being strong
in the organization of
NARFE.
Other visitors for the
meeting were Mrs. Bishop
of Palestine and Mr. and
Mrs. Mack Hackett of
Jacksonville. Mr. and Mrs.
Priley Ingram joined as
new members.
Leroy Buchmeyer,
president, presided during
the business session.
In Elizabethan England the spoon was such a novelty that
