of years ago. At this meeting a
letter of tribute was prepared and
read in honor and rememberance
of a number of the Old-time fox
! hunters naming especially Olie Ol-
' son, Jim Ward, John Wren, Henry
I Bell, Dr. Watkins, C. McWhirter,
and E. B. Downing. All these men
kept their dogs and knew a good
hound when they heard him run.
They were referred to as good
sportmen, who knew and appre-
ciated the Hunter's Code by pro-
tecting the fox and the property
where they hunted.
At this hunt last week about
fifty hunters gathered from these
counties. There were 33 dogs on
hand for the chase, being owned
by Dunn and Odom of Mabank,
Charlie Watkins of Kemp, McCaf-
fities of Wallace and Phillips from
North Canton.
Those who are familiar with
Fox Hunters language know the
hunters love for the sport and
that no musical note could be
more soothing to his ear than the
voice of his dog and most surely
there is no other sport where the
hunter has a closer relation and
understanding with! his best friend
“Hig Dog”.
