care. All floors cannot be treated
alike.
For floors of wood, cork or
linoleum. a solvent paste or li-
quid wax containing naptha, car-
bon tetrachloride and mineral
spirits—alone or in combination
— will be suitable. Check the la-
bel for contents—for they should
be listed.
To remove old wax, a commer-
cial wax remover is recommend-
ed. Directions should be follow-
ed exactly.
After removing the wax, go over
the floor with a mop wrung out
of a mild detergent solution.
Rinse carefully, dry thoroughly,
apply thin coat of wax, dry thor-
oughly about 30 minutes, then
polish. If enough help is available
three thin wax applications —
each dried and polishel separate-
ly — will give a beautiful and
long-lasting finish. An electric J
waxer-polisher is a back-saver
when doing this task, and it does
a professional job.
Many new products are on the
market for care of floors and i
other hard surfaces in the home.
Our advice to you is just be sure
to read the label on the product
you are purchasing and know you
are buying a product that will
not harm but enhance the hard
surface you are using it on.
