HUNTNG COMPANIONS
USUALLY MEAN WELL
When hunting friends pass on
advice they are trying to help
Here are some tips, that I used,
with the results not always the
best:
Advice: When your dog gets
covered with dirt and leaves use
the vacuum cleaner lightly on
his coat. Result: Machine slight
ly bad but now have the best
j bob-tailed pointer in town
Advice Climb a tree when
hunting deer so someone won’t i
mistake you for a deer and shoot ,
you. Result: Shot at three times
in being mistaken for turkey,
and one used birdshot.
Advice Leather collar can
choke hunting dog in heavy ;
woods Use elastic instead Re ’
, suit: My elastic was probably
too heavy, and when he snapped
loose I had to wade the creek to
get him out of a tree
Advice To cure your hound
from egg sucking coat egg with ,
, flour paste and red pepper icave |
in hen nest. Result: The dog
' slept all afternoon, but I found '
a pretty mad chicken snake in
the barn
Advice Teach a young dog to
hunt by smell by taking along
j dog biscuits and tossing them
when he isn't looking He’ll soon
learn to sniff them out. Result:
He learned to smell but be still
won’t have anything to do with j
a quad. They scare him How-
ette to ticks on your dog They’ll
। come off without leaving sore
place Result: My touch was in-
delicate and the real sore place
is where he turned around and
bit me
