Survey Committee met Saturday
night, October 22, in the courthouse
assembly room, Canton with chair-
man, Mrs. Russell Laney, presiding.
Other members present were Mr.
Laney, Wills Point; R. A. Caperton,
Grand Saline; Jess Helms, Myrtle
Springs; Mrs. Tom Pollard, Tyler;
Mrs. Opal Shately and Miss Alma
Flippo, Canton, and a young guest,
Mrs Pollard’s grandson.
The September minutes were ap-
proved.
Miss Flippon read a letter concern-
ing events of the annual state his-
torical survey committe to be held at
Fort Worth December 12 and 13.
Mrs. Laney gave the highlights of
the last historical newsletter she had
received.
Miss Flippo gave a report of the

Funds totaling $137,940 have been
allocated to Van Zandt County for
rnit-sharing assistance to local farm-
er cooperating in the 1967 agricultur-
al conservation program, according
to G. C. Lambdin, chairman, agri-
cultural stabilization and conserva-
tion Van Zandt county committee.
This compares with the allocation of
$123,505 fo rthe 1966 program.
Program funds are allocated pri-
manly on the basis of conservation
needs.
In recent years, most of the coun-
ty’s ACP funds have been used to
help farmers carry out such prac-
tices as: estabash permanent pas-
ture, improving pasture, brush con-

Demonstration Club met Nov. 2 in
the home of Mrs. Lloyd Chitty.
The president called the meeting
to order and the minutes of the last
meeting were read and approved
