The answer is a resounding yea,
more things are possible than man
has ever dreamed or imagined in all
the history of this world. There is
no limit to what can be accom-
plished when love is allowed to
rule over ignorance or hate.
Let me share wit). you an experi-
ence Margaret and I had tonight
(January 2). We were guests at a
party given as the first year birth-
day for a woman 32 years of age
Inward barriers had been built by
drug addiction and all that accom-
panies that inward hell Barriers
that are built between that kind of
person and a (good) people had
been growing for many years. These
barriers are now gone, with the ex-
ception of those that some individ-
uals keep "propping up" for their
self protection in their self right-
eousness. You know what broke
them, God's love. God loved and
loves this girl through a few people
that refused to let barriers keep
them from doing, love. Possible9
Oh, yes! When WE quit talking love
and began doing love. But, YOU
can’t do love, until You are Love,

I John 4.
Everyone is saying, "Happy New
Year." Basically, a wish tnat you
will have a year that is free from
unhappiness. Generally only a greet-
ing that replaces temporarily "how
do you do." Seldom, a carefully
thought out statement of good will
which transcends all barriers. But
you and I know that the next year
will not be ‘'new" or "happy" un-
til the false, though very real bar-
riers are broken down and the
trash heap they will make is ear-
ned away and buried in the "city
dumps" of forgiveness. What would
it take to make this New Year hap-
py for all the citizens of our town
and community? Second, is it pos-
sible?
Let me suggest a few things that
would make many of us happy. We
preachers, of course, would be hap-
py in the new ycar to see all of our
members in church worshipping God
at least twice a month. As men of
commerce and business we would
be happy to see the "tight money"
get set free from its tightness.
Housewives would be happy to see
food prices go down where the gro-
eery money would buy those little
odds and ends they used to buy
with "grocery" money. Youth would
be happier if they were treated like
adults, with the exception of losing
their youth and their youthful free-
dom from heavy responsibility. Chil
dren would be happy if they re-
ceived more love and gifts. Babies
happy just to be held close and
get to pull all those things off into
the floor. But all of this would not
bring about the real lasting happi-
ness we all want, for these are but
temporary joys.
Real happiness for the new year
would be more of these kind of
things. Every man to be able to
hold his head up before all men
because he is a free man. No more
second rate citizens. A year in
which we would all live and werk
together as brothers and children of
God. Where no barriers existed,
neither in ourselves nor in our so
ciety. Where we worked just as
hard to help our fellowmen as we
do now to help ourselves. A year
where love extended beyond our
selfishness, into our daily walk
with our fellowmen. A year where
every church really wanted every
one. A year where no one could feel
unwantd or unloved. A year where
this commnity, which likes to be
called a Christian community, was
really CHRISTIAN.
Is it possible? Is it really possible
to break down the barriers that we
have built up within ourselves, is
it possible for the barriers which
have been built so strong within so-
