Holding Steady
Upward This Week
Following is the Texas-Federal
Market News Service as furnish-
ed by Norman Butts, reporter:
Today’s receipts were about
450 cattle and 550 calves, which
is 50 cattle and 50 calves more
than last week. Cows accounted
for about 23% of todays total
ru. Compared with last onday,
trading on slaughter cows and
bulls moderately active and about
steady, slaughter calves active
and $1-$1.25 higher. Trading on
Stocker classes active and about
$1 higher except cows and cow
and calf pairs which remained
about steady.
Utility and commercial slaugh-
ter cows $13.10-$15, canner and
cutter $9.50-$13.90. Cutter and
utility slaughter bulls $14.50-
$15.70. Standard and good 450-
550 pounds slaughter calves
$18.30-$23, with utility down to
$14.
Medium and good 650-750 pound
feeder steers $16.60-$2180. Me-
dium and good 500-650 pound
stocker steers $17.80-$21.70, and
common down to $13.50. Common
and medium yearling stocker
heifers $13-$17. Good and choice
250-500 pound stacker calves
$21.30-$27.10 with 200-230 pound
choice up to $28.25, common and
medium $16.10-$22.60. Good 250-
475 pound stocker heifer calves
$19-$23.30, common and medium
$13.70-19. Medium and good
stocker cows $115-$141, common
$71-$119. Medium and good cow
and calf pairs $114-$181. Com-

To Speak In Canton
Ti Kiwanis Club
Public indifference and apathy
will be treated in a program en-
titled “What Price Indifference,”
scheduled for the Canton Ki-
wanis Club Thursday, Nov. 3.
Making the presentation will be
Giles W. Day, Jr. of Dallas.
In his talk, Mr. Day will cov-
er the something-for-nothing at-
titude that has gripped large
portions of our society and its
influence on our school systems,
government programs and the in-
tegrity of the American citizen.
Mr. Day is associated with
United States Fidelity and Guar-
anty Company as a Special
Agent, and is assigned to the Dal-
las offices. He is prominently ac-
tive as a member of both the
Texas Insurance Speakers Bu-
reau and the North Texas divi-
sion of the Texas Insurance |
Fieldmen’s Association. He is ap-
pearing in Canton on behalf of
the Speakers Bureau.
