Your Vote and Consideration
Will Be Appreciated
Electricity has made all of these
nostalgic relics of a bygone era
The kerosene lamp faded into
the past when electric lights began
brightening every home Other
electric appliances replaced the
wash tub and scrub board, the
flatiron and the wood-burning
cookstove and eliminated the
tiresome chore of hand-washing
dishes pots and pans
Electricity A vital part of
everyday living in so many ways
And Texas Power and Light
Company is doing its utmost to
assure an adequate supply for
essential needs
Electricity Still one of the
biggest bargains in your budget

Mrs. Vineyard has rocks from
many parts of the world, such
as the Garden of Gethsemane.
White Cliffs of Dover, Mount
Calvary, Hawaii, Tropic of
Cancer, and Pyramids of
Cairo, Egypt. She also enjoys
reading. On the average, Mrs.
Vineyard completes about 20
books a month. She trades her
books that she has already
read at First Monday for
several more books to read
the next month. She is very in-
terested in geography and
history of our country as well
as many others.
Her husband, the late C. L.
Vineyard was jailer for Van
Zandt County for seven and a
half years. The couple moved
to the jail in 1945 and Mrs.
Vineyard cooked for the staff
and prisoners.

tions," she commented.
Mrs. Vineyard lists her hob-
bies as embroidery, crochet,
piece quilts, rock collection,
yard work, reading, and
cooking. “I would rather be in
the kitchen cooking than
anything else," she stated. As

Her words of wisdom to a
young homemaker are
“There is just a 'right smart'
to making a home. There is a
lot of give and take."
She has selected the
following recipe to share with
others:
Niagara Wine Cake
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 pkg. instant vanilla pud-
ding
4 eggs
34 cup vegetable oil
34 cup Niagara wine
1 teaspoon ground mace
Grated rind of one orange
Combine all ingredients and
beat for five minutes with an

Efficiency is a very important part of our con-
servation program. It's defined as getting max-
imum results for minimum cost. For example:
using natural gas for those jobs it does best. Like
heating your home, cooking, clothes drying and
water heating. You not only use energy more
efficiently, but also cut the cost of your utility
bills and contribute to energy conservation.
Some other examples of saving energy and
cutting costs are: turning down your thermostat
to 68 degrees, cutting your shower time down to
5 minutes and fixing a leaky faucet. (A leaky hot
water faucet wastes as much as 700 gallons of
water a year plus the energy needed to heat it.)
