Championship last year in the
60 pound division and Dean
Casey was a finalist.
In the Junior Open Division,
Canton has Larry Rosemond,
a 75 pound, 12 year old, and
Donnie Wilder, 80 pounds, 12
years old. Both of these boys
have over eight wins.
In the Senior Novice Class,
Canton will enter Jim Collins,
87 pounds, 13 years old, and
Duane Burk, 125 pounds, 13
years old.
In the Senior Open Class,
Canton will enter Sonny
Rosemond, 139 pounds, 15
years old; Durike Shaw, 116
pounds, 15 years old; and
Jimmie Grimes, 157 pounds,
15 years old.
In the Novice Division is
Greg Galloway, 140 pounds, 17
years old.
In the Open Division is
Barry Shaw that moved up
from novice because he won a
championship last year.
Barry is 17 years old and
weighs 110 pounds. Also in the
Open Division will be former
State High School Heavy
Weight Champ, Mike Creel.
Mike is 20 years old and will
weigh in around 225 pounds.
Dean Brown of Canton
Motors has donated his body
shop for the new boxing club
and Clyde Elliott. Jr. donated
$300.00 to buy the new* ring

Dodson Auditorium.
Terri Badgley, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Badgley
of Route 4, Canton, was
nominated by the Lawyers
Club and was named as one of
the eight “Beauties."
Sponsored oy me yearbook
staff, the annual contest
named eight beauties to be
featured in color pages in the
spring edition of the college
yearbook, The Ranger.
Dana Sneed of Kilgore and
Grace Jacobus of Longview
emceed the event.
Entertainment was provided
by "The New* Dimension," the
swing choir directed by Bill
Holda. Twink Ross,
psychology instructor, was in
charge of staging the beauty
contest in which the nominees
appeared in both campus
outfits and formal evening
gowns.

the third quarter when they
marched down to the 13 yard
line, only to lose the ball on
downs.

loose and recovered the
fumble on their own 48 yard

drove the ball down to the 14
yard line, but lost it on the
next play on an interception
by Joe Stepherson.
An Eagle interception by
Mike Norris set up Canton's
final store of the game,
putting the ball into play on
their own 38 yard line.
Shamlin picked up two first
downs, then another, sporting
the ball on the 9 yard line

Fire Chief Cecil Tawater
reported the following fires
for the past week.
Sunday, November 8, a car
was on fire at Sullivan's
Garage in town. The fire was
extinguished before it did too
much damage, according to
Chief Tawater.
Monday. November 8, a
house belonging to a Mr.
Goggans at Colfax was gutted
by fire. Mr. Harris rented the
house and lived there. On the
same day, a 1969 pickup ,
belonging to Bigham Wright
was completely destroyed by
fire on Highway 64 this side of
Ben Wheeler.

The Canton Boxing
Tournament is set up for
December 17 and 18 and any
boy that plans to enter the
tournament will have to start
working out immediately.
Canton Coaches have new*
rules: a lot of the older
fighters will have to fight two
minute rounds and if a boy is
not in shape he will have to
wait until the next
tournament unless he can get
in shape, according to Gerald
Burgess.
