Request Answered in
Spite Of Red Tape
Mrs. Glynda Eschle had a
rather interesting experience
recently as she searched for a
listing of dates of obser-
vances such as dental hy-
gene week and fire preven-
tion week for a PTO assign-
ment. She first tried news-
papers including The Groom
News who referred her to the
Globe News in Amarillo.
Next she contacted post-
master Bobby Cornett who
suggested she write the Gov-
ernment Publication Bureau
in Pueblo, Colo. The bureau
notified Mrs. Eschle that
they had referred her letter
to Congressman Jack High-
tower, who referred her let-
ter to the Congressional Lib-
rary who about a month after
her first inquiry sent a copy
of a calendar listing all ob-
servances from “Love Your
Mother-In-Law to Do
Nothing Week.”
And who would have
thought that a government
capable of loosing almost any
important request would be
able to give Mrs. Eschle her
needed information.
In the meantime, while the
request was shuffled from
agency to agency, Mrs.
Eschle found a copy of the
same calendar at the Ama-
rillo Library and spent a few
hours copying the needed
information.

if a killer walked the
streets with a gun, you’d bar
your doors and take protec-
tive precautions.
But the biggest killer lives
among us, and will cause half
of the predicted deaths in
Texas. That killer is cardio-

from sudden heart attacks to
the subtle, silent deaths and
disability from hypertension
and its many complications.
According to the American
Heart Association hyperten-
sion afflicts more than 23
million persons. Hyperten-
sion, is a silent, mysterious
killer with no characteristic
symptoms, but hypertension
in most cases can be con-
trolled.
Left uncontrolled, hyper-
