sation programs are combin-
ed to give the individual the
urge-reducing techniques
that will work best. They are
also given “homework
assignments” that help them
apply techniques they learn
in the classroom to everyday
life.
Since early January, over
150 Golden Spread citizens
have enrolled in the
program. Follow-up surveys
show that 130 are still not
smoking. Many of those had
been smoking two packs a
day for years. The course has
been offered in Borger, Ama-
rillo. Lubbock, Wellington,
Dimmitt andCanyon.
Services Held For
Murray W. Latimer
Murry Wayne Latimer, 59,
died Thursday, July 23, in
Groom. Services were held in
Hedley, Saturday, July 25 at
the Hedley Church of Christ
with Bright Newhouse and
Don Stone officiating, burial
was in Rose Cemetery in
Hedley by Spicer Funeral
Home of Memphis.
Mr. Latimer was born in
Hedley and had been
employed in the road con-
struction business and was a
Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife,
Marie; one daughter, Mrs.
Vee Hissey of Colorado; two
granddaughters; two step
sons, Frankie Stiles and
Jimmy Stiles, both of
Amarillo; two step
daughters, Mrs. Laveda
Wood of Conway and Mrs.
Laverne Schultz of Groom; a
brother, Herbert Gene Lati-
mer of Dallas; 17 step grand-
children and two step great-
grandchildren.
