How can the new arrival combat
this tendency to confuse Koenig with
Congress and St. Edward’s Drive with
St. Elmo’s? Is it possible that you
might be able to follow Anderson
Lane until its end instead of being
sucked up and put out to dry by the
dreaded Research Blvd.? And, most
importantly, how can you go places
and make new friends in Austin
without a lethal weapon (known in
other places besides Austin and New
york City as a “car”) of your own?

Working on Saturday morning can be a drag unless of course you're a
kid out of school helping Daddy, as is the case here as workers finsih the
concrete in front of the RCC last Saturday morning.
St. Ed's students have five options for leaving campus by
mass transit: 1) #13 South Congress inbound for downtown,
2) #13 South Congress outbound for South Austin, 3) #14
Travis Heights outbound, 4) #28 Ben White eastbound, and
5) #28 Ben White westbound ... of course, this list of routes
is by no means exhaustive; Capitol Metro has over 50 routes
in operation.

Ms. Sylvia Villarreal of the Lockheed

for assertive, outgoing students with

A student’s best preparation is one

do it.
Members of campus clubs and

The local variety of mass transit is
the Capital Metropolitan Transporta-
tion Authority, and it offers an
impressive array of services to the
interested St. Edward’s student. While
Capital Metro cannot satisfy every
desire of every person (buses do not
pick up on the steps of Doyle or on
Teresa’s lawn), it does offer compre-
hensive service for the city of Austin.
Basically, St. Ed’s students have 5
options for leaving St. Ed’s by mass
transit bound for various destinations;

page bi-weekly with the Feb. 13 issue.

New to St. Edward’s? Well, consid-
ering the make-up of the student body,
that means you’re probably new to
Austin as well and don’t know your
way around but would very much like
to.
One of the funniest and most
exasperating problems encountered by
new arrivals is the difficulty of
navigation in uncharted waters. In
other words, if you’ve never been to
Austin before, you run the risk of
getting hopelessly, embarassingly lost
on your first few ventures into urban
territory. If you have a car, that is.
If you don’t have a car, special
measures may be necessary to insure
that you get to see as much of Austin
as you would like to.
What are you going to be looking
for when you leave St.Edward’s and
join “the real world?”
St.Edward’s fifth annual Career
Fair is the place to go to get the answer
to this and other questions about jobs
and career opportunities. The Career
Fair, sponsored by Career Resources,
will be held in the auxiliary gym of
the new Recreation/Convocation Cen-
ter on February 11, 1987 between
9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Employers representing 20 to 30
companies, businesses, and agencies
will be on hand to answer questions
about what they produce or what
services they offer, what kind of
majors they hire, what they look for
in a successful job applicant, the
advancement opportunities within
their organizations and other questions
you might want to ask. This is an
opportunity to develop ideas on how
you can use your major when you
graduate. Freshmen through seniors
and graduate students are all invited
