shopping area.
Former P&Z member Harry Hunsicker presented the council
with a master plan drawing for zoning areas. The map showed
the major retail areas to be at Paige Road and South Colony
Boulevard, FM 423 and South Colony Boulevard and FM 423
in the area of Jan’s Food Store.
Hunsicker said the frontage area to Highway 121 between
FM 423 and Paige Road would be primarily set aside for auto
dealerships and light commercial possibly.
Housing development plans also revealed a very heavy push
to the west side of FM 423 in an area approximately starting
at North Colony Boulevard up to Eastvale and as far west to
the fingers of the lake. A smaller residential development was
also shown south of the dam site area in an area west of FM
423 running directly off Highway 121.
In other matters, the council gave City Manager Tom Hart
approval to draw up a contract with the Thompson-Parkey
architectural firm for a proposed city municipal building and
fire station.
Thompson-Parkey & Associates was originally the council’s
second choice but first choice ANPH, Inc., informed Hart
that they could not meet the fee requirements set forth by
the city.
Hart said Thompson-Parkey would only charge $40,000 if
the capital improvement program is passed which is $8,000
lower than ANPH, Inc. The fee for Thompson-Parkey amounts
to 5 3/4 per cent of the job.
The fees are based on $42 a square foot for the municipal
center and $32.50 for the fire station.
n
ired that the salesmen are
passing themselves off as
firemen. “We feel they are
trying to come across as
hometown firefighters.”

the past week on salesmen
selling smoke and heat

of being firemen.
Police Chief John Stein-

of the city’s Volunteer
Fire Department or the
Police Department. “They
are representing themselves
as firemen but they are
not, he said. “They might
