Hoppers hit Sparkies, Bonnets
Wednesday, May 16, the Colony Grasshoppers played the
Little Sparkies in the first of five make-up games. Even though
the Hoppers were rained out of most of their regularly sche-
duled games they did manage to practice and it payed off.
The offense sparked a winning 14 goals and the defense held
the Sparkies from scoring. Lisa Stockert topped the scoring
with 5 goals, Missy Spangenberger had 3, Stacey Meyer 3,
Susan Hauck 1, Laura Heatwole 1 and Patty Olinge 1.
The Hoppers weren’t through by a long shot. The next
night, May 17, they faced the number 1 team, the Bluebonnets.
Lisa Stockert made the first goal of the game for the Grass-
hoppers but the Bluebonnets managed to boot one in making
the first half end 1 to 1. The second half was one of
missed shots by each team so they settled for a 1-1 tie.
Laura Heatwole played a fine game as the Grasshopper goalie
repelling several good shots by the Bluebonnets.
