How many times have we heard this line or even spoken
it ourselves? Perhaps we need to learn one of God’s
fundamental lessons of life. We only receive in life in
proportion to that which we give. Rich cargoes do not drift
into port. Before your ship can come in, you have to send
one out!
Someone has said our ship “must be laden with a
quantity of valuables that you must put aboard, else why
should you ship return with anything more valuable? In
addition, you must glide that ship through every kind of
weather, good and bad; and the possibility of accidents is
always present. Still, some wait and wait for those ships
that never come in, cannot come in, because they never
sent one out.”
May our lives exemplify a style of giving. Then do not be
surprised when God opens the windows of heaven and
blesses you beyond compare.

Hines heads
Colony drive
The Colony plays an im-
portant role in the United
Way of Greater Lewisville.
Not only do the 18 human-
care affiliates provide ser-
vice to the residents of the
Colony, residents also
serve as volunteers for
United Way.
The 1983-84 campaign,
which began Sept. 14 and
will run through Oct. 24,
has a special group of
volunteers called The Col-
ony Unit. This Unit, chaired
helping Hines raise this
Life Insurance Agent, is
responsible for raising
$2,644 of the $100,000 ma-
king the goal for the United
Way of Greater Lewisville,
by Steve Hines, New York
amount will be Nick Oprea,
president of the Colony
Chamber of Commerce,
Lydia Gober, executive as-
sistant at the CofC, and
Gail Bradley, Farmers In-
surance agent.
Hines said, “Because we
are a part of the population
served by the 18 affiliates
of the United Way of
Greater Lewisville, we feel
we should take an active
part in helping to raise the
money to fund the services.
I have a great team and am
confident that we can sur-
pass our goal this year.”
