cash on your heating; even in
cold weather. There are sim-
ple, low-cost procedures you
can follow to realize signifi-
cant savings on your monthly
bills. A good place to start is
to look for air cracks around
doors and windows and seal
them with weather-stripping
or caulking.

THREE HUNDRED WHALES DIE! Several years ago
this headline was printed across a newspaper. It was quite
a story which gave an interesting reason as to why these
giant fish died. The whales were pursuing sardines when
they traveled into a bay and could not get out. A writer
commented, “The small fish lured the sea giants to their
deaths...they came to their violent demise by chasing
small ends, by prosituting vast powers for insignificant
goals.”
Many people in our area have lost jobs, and many others
have uncertain futures. The Dallas area has an economic
picture that glitters but is actually unstable. I think we all
should pause to see if we are wasting what incomes we
have received on insignificant things. Are we in debt for
needless items? Have we mortgaged our future for status?
Are our savings gone and future paycheck already spend?
Have we purchased little pleasures and become marooned
in a bay of financial disaster?
May the Lord give us a second chance.
George Washington's career as a surveyor began when
he was 15. By the time he was 17, he earned about $18
a day at it.

If you're looking for a quiet
place to live, ask about the
door construction. Solid or
core-filled doors with gas-
kets or weather stripping
are quieter.

Don’t overlook energy sav-
ing procedures dealing with
your heating system. By set-
ting your thermostat between
65 and 70 degrees during the
day and at least five degrees
lower when sleeping or away
from home you can save mon-
ey. Other suggestions in-
clude: Replace filters as
needed, close vents in unused
rooms, insulate ducts and
pipes in unheated areas.
Open your drapes and use
natural sunlight to supple-
ment your heat.

Water heaters also use a lot
of energy. To offset the cost,
set the temperature lower, in-
sulate the heater, and install
water flow restrictors in
showers and faucets. When
replacing a water heater,
choose an energy efficient
model. You may also want to
consider storm windows,
doors, or double-paneled
glass to keep in heat. These
tips from the experts at the
American Gas Association
may help you get the most for
your heating dollar.
if you have any of
these symptoms,
your problem may
be corrected with
gentle, natural chi-
ropractic treat-
ment.
