District Judge Bob Scofield has formally announced
his candidacy for re- election, citing his record in asking
voters for a second term as Judge of the 158th Judicial
District of the State of Texas.
13 YEARS AGO
Four persons were competing for three openings on
the Little Elm City Council in the April 3 city election.
Seventeen persons were arrested in a gambling raid
about 11 p. m. Friday near Little Elm.
Taking part in the raid were members of the Denton
County Sheriff's Department, the Texas Rangers,
Little Elm Police Chief Jim Horrocks and members
of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The raid was
led by Sheriff Wylie Barnes.
12 YEARS AGO
Colony residents had an opportunity to get
acquainted with their Congressman, Jim Collins, at
a buffet. More than 50 persons attended the event
sponsored by the Peters Colony Republican Women's
Club.

TWO YEARS AGO
Council delays a decision on zoning matter involving
205 acres west of Highway 423.
Fox & Jacobs had asked that the acreage be rezoned
from agriculture to Planned Development, but on
March 3 asked that the request be withdrawn. F&J's
plans for the 205 acres had run into opposition from the
Planning and Zoning Commission and some residents.
ONE YEAR AGO
Construction of a golf course on Wynnwood
Peninsula is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid
September, City Manager Bill Hall told the City
Council Monday.
Mayor Don Amick reported International Business
Machines Corporation had verbally approved an
agreement on running Plano Parkway through it's
property to Paige Road.

Colony voters overwhelmingly favored incorporation
Jan. 15 after being released from the extra-territorial
jurisdiction of Frisco. Incorporation was favored 459
to 37.
The Colony officially became a City Jan. 31 and
candidates lost no time in filing for office.
10 YEARS AGO
Bill Longo, a candidate for mayor, had questions
Monday about city finances at a meeting of the City
Council.
W. Tip Hall was the winner in Tuesday's election to
choose a successor to state Rep. Walt Parker.
NINE YEARS AGO
The Colony Softball Association still needs women
players for the spring season.
Rain kept all but a handful of spectators home
Monday night and little resident input brought one of
the shortest City Council meetings recently.
SEVEN YEARS AGO
Approval of a format for Colony residents to be heard
by the City Council highlighted a lengthy agenda for
Monday nights session.
The Colony Chamber of Commerce will hold a Meet
The Candidates forum at noon Saturday at Antonelli's
restaurant.
SIX YEARS AGO
The City of The Colony has been asked by
International Business Machines Corporation to annex
the portion of it's land in the area now lying outside
the colony, thereby bringing the entire IBM property
into the city.
FIVE YEARS AGO
Mayor Gene Pollard cuts the ribbon opening the
extension of Blair Oaks Road from Arbor Glen Road
to state Highway 121 Tuesday. Members of the City
Council, and representatives of Fox & Jacobs and
others turned out.
FOUR YEARS AGO
The Colony Municipal Utility District's plan to bring
Dallas lake water to Colony homes is behind schedule,
mostly because of getting the line laid from the Elm
Fork treatment plant to the city.
Bill Hall, MUD manager, said much of the delay is
the result of rainy weather.
A $1 million lawsuit was filed Tuesday in the dispute
over the annexation of Veterans Point by the City of
Eastvale.
Plaintiffs are Jim Skinner and his wife, Jean, of the
Colony and Veterans Point Residential Development
Ltd., a partnership.
THREE YEARS AGO
The Colony below average on alcohol wrecks. Police
Chief Nick Ristagno cited 1984 statistics Tuesday that
showed there were 206 traffic accidents investigated
in the Colony, and 15 or 7.3 per cent were not alcohol
related.
