secution, plotted to revolt against
the ruling power. This attempt end-
ed in failure and brought merciless
persecution in its wake. The Diet of
1.635 pronounced the death penalty
and confiscation of property upon all
the "Judaizers,” as the Sabbatarians
were contemptuously designated.
