"Something Different”
The Waco ( hapter of Junior Ha-
dassahare going to give their first
large affair of this year. Last year
they gave a coin tea and a large sum
was realized. This year the girls
decided to give something different,
and it will be "Something Different.”'
"Something Different" is a play with
three scenes. Miss Rebecca Rosen-
berg, president of the local Junior
Hadassah, is. the part of a mother,
who Speaks Yiddish and then broken
English. She is, as she says, “uld
feshioned" and fusses when her
daughter comes in from the "denees."
Rose, the modern flapper daughter,
is the role of Lily Chazanow, who is
corresponding secretary and cultural
chairman. Eva, the niece, is the part
of Ruth Englander. All in .all, this

An enthusiastic throng of some
400 persbns attended the bazaar
sponsored by the Junior Hadassah
on Sunday, December 11. Attrac-
tive and unique in its effect, the af-
fair proved a tremendous success—
the fruit of the untiring efforts of
those in charge. Japanese maidens,
Palestinian girls, Russian ladies,
Spanish senoritas, Dutch maids, our
very own flappers, vied with each
other in dispensing their wares and
adding color and life to the scene.
"Splendid music was furnished during
the evening by Mack’s Happy Four
Orchestra.

Srah Nendet, secretary and public-

ing had adjourned, a very enjoyable
social hour was spent. Miss Bessie
Halfant won high prize for cards,
arid Miss Ruth Kersanwon low score
prize. The next meeting will be held
at the home of Miss Bessie Halfant.
Galveston Jewry Rises to the Oc-
cation
Mr. Joseph Swiff, Galveston Zone
chairman for the J. C. R. S. and his
committee have accomplished a very
wonderful and remarkable campaign
of raising the quota-for Galveston to-
ward the erection o fthe Texas Wom-
ans Building of the Jewish Consump-
tivs Relief Society of Denver, olo..
as at this time there is being erected
at Galveston a community building
in honor of their worthy and beloved
Rabbi Henry Cohen for his forty
years of untiring service to which
every Jew in Galveston has donated
liberally. The raising of the Gal-
veston quota of the Texas Building
was indeed a remarkable accomplish-
ment and it ’proves once more the
liberalism of the Galveston Jewry
and their readiness to respond with
their time and money to each and
every humanitarian cause even
though at the expense of self sacri-
fice. The slogan “Give until it hurts”
surely suits the Galveston communi-
ty. Among those who have endowed
rooms, beds and windows and tab-
lets will be found the well known
names of Galvestonians represent-
ing the reform and orthodox branch-
es of Judaism, the Kempner family,
I. Houser, Joseph Swiff, Jules Bloch, 1
Joseph Nussbaum, M. Paskowitz, M. .
Klein, Jake Davidson, A. -Oshman,
Hyman Schwiff, Sam J. Levy, A. B. J
