CHAIN SAW CHATTER
Friends some of you have
been told a lot of things about
different chain saws. I believe I
can qualify to say a few words
along this line, since I’ve had
more than 12 years in the field.
With chain saws, many differ-
ent makes and models of saws.
Most any of these saws will do
your job if you take care of it.
I think the question that you
have to answer here is weight,
price and performance and
Homelite is hard to pass in
weight, price and performance.

HEALTH AND SAFETY TIPS
FROM THE AMERICAN
MEDICAL ASSOCIATIONS
“Safe at home” means scoring
a run and possibly winning the
game to a baseball player.
The same phrase means some-
thing entirely different to the
American family.
Every year we are greeted
with a new set of statistics that
tell us that we are by nd means
“safe at home” in the average
household. In fact, the statistics
show that home can be down-
right dangerous.
Accidents in the home caused
28,500 deaths in 1965, according
to the Archives of Environmen-
tal Health, a professional jour-
nal published bv the American
Medical Association.
Each year about 25 million
home accidents cause injuries
serious enough to require medi-
cal attention or to restrict the
activity of the victim a day or
longer.
A host of physical factors are
involved in home accidents, such
as electrical and power equip-
ment, inadequate lighting, glass
doors, abandoned ice boxes,
medicines, and many others. But
by far the major cause of home
accidents are two things—falls
and fires.
Falls are the second most
common cause of accidental
death, next to highway acci-
dents. Falls in and around the
home each year cause injuries
to nearly 7 million people and
12,000 deaths.
Falls on stairs cause nearly
2,000 fatal injuries a year. Prop-
er lighting and sturdy handrails
on stairs are highly important
to home safety. A good ladder
to aid in reaching high places is
much safer than standing on
boxes or chairs. And the ladder
should be firmlv placed and
braced at the foot. Spilled water
or grease or improper waxing
of floors cause falls. Loose rugs,
scattered toys and trailing ex-
tension cords also are hazards.
A light switch near the door of
each room is a safety measure.
Most of these hazards can be
eliminated or minimized by the
head of the household.
Get your family together this
evening and organize a tour of'

GREYHOUNDS TAKE TWO
FROM CENTER POINT
The Boerne Greyhounds rode
the hot shooting of James Hol-
lon and Curtis Goode to a 76-24
victory over the Center Point
Pirates Tuesday, November 22,
1966.
The Greyhounds used an ef-
fective full court press and a
sound defense to break the hap-
less pirates. Mike Peden, Layne
Puls and Cookie Rangel led the
defensive group while Hollon and
Goode scored 22 points each to
lead the offense of the Grey-
hounds.
Coach Reeves stated that,
“The boys did a tremendous job
on offense and defense consid-
ering it was the Greyhounds’
first game of the season. The
team had to be in top physical
shape in order to carry on the
full court press the entire ball
game, which we did very effec-
tively.”
The hounds shot 37% from
the floor and 52% from the line.
They also committed 31 fouls
from the court.
Over all, the hounds looked as
if they needed to pick up on
their shooting percentage from
the floor, bring the free throw
percentage to 80-85% and com-
mit one-half as many fouls be-
fore they will jell into a fine ball
club! Coach Reeves feels that
his squad will reach this peak
around the beginning of the dis-
trict wars in January.
The B-Squad won their ball
game from the Pirates, 25-16.
Jerry Behr, Freddy Beer, Ray-
mond Sotello, and Ted Speaker
lead the way to victory.
The B-Squad performed con-
siderably better than previously
thought because the Basketball
coaching staff is shy one coach
(the B-team). Since Coach
Reeves has to devote practically
all his time with the Varsity
boys it leaves very little time
for the B-Squad. So., .hats off
to the B-Squad for doing such
a fine job.
Boys seeing action on the Var-
sity group were: James Hollon,
Richard San Miguel, John For-
tune, Layne Puls, Mike Peden,
Curtis Goode, Cookie Rangel,
Howie Duckworth, and Gary
Shipman. Boys seeing action on
the B-Squad were: Freddy Beer,
Raymond Sotello, Jerry Behr,
Ted Speaker, Ray Ranzau, Cal-
vin Wright, Tom Aleshire, Rich-
ard Merchant, Mike Hyltin, To-
ny Flores, Dave Loewen, and
Aubrey Lemm.
The Greyhounds’ next game
will be on the road when they
encounter Fredericksburg on
Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1966. The
Hounds’ next home game will
be with Fredericksburg on Mon-
day. Dec. 5, 1966.
Coach Reeves and the boys
were very happy in regards to
the amount of fans who attend-
ed the ball game Tuesday night.
It seems that there were twice
as many people at the game
that at any previous basketball
game. FANS.... Keen up the
good work. Brino a friend to
the game for an enjoyable even-
ing of Athletics—Boerne Style.
