Mr. Coz died Thursday moiling
in Jacksonville. He was bormNov.
30,1919, and was reared ie> Nacog-
doches County, where he f tt nded
school and church. He was a mem-
ber of the union chape? Baptist
Church and served on the usher
board and a deacon and chairman of
the deacon board
He waa a member of the New Life
Masonic Lodge No. 341 and haa
served as worshipful master and
secretary. He served in theU.S. Army
during World War II and was affili-
ated with the Boys Scouts of America.
Survivors are his wife, Emma Lee
Cox of Jacksonville; a son, Cleo Cox
of Rusk; three daughters, Jimmie
Hartfield of Newton, Virginia
Sanford of Wharton and Helen Scott
of Troup; two sisters, Delthia
Richards and Nettie Freeney, both
of Dallas; nine grandchildren; four
step-grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers include Donnell Cox,
Marcell Jefferson, Ricky Jefferson,
Roddy Cox and Gene Cox.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Judge Buddy Lacy
Funeral for Elmer Lawrence
(Buddy) Lacy, 87, of Jacksonville,
was at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Renft-o
Memorial Chapel of the Boren
Conner Funeral Home. Mr. Lacy died
Thursday in Nan Travis Hospital.
He 'ttfeto born Dec. 12, 1907, in
Summerfleld. Early in his career,
he was a mechanic and owned an
auto parts store in Jackaonville and
a second one in Palestine until the
retirement of his partner Frank
Diamont Sr. In 1977, he became a
Cherokee County Justice of the
Peace, which he remained for more
than 12 years before retiiing.
Judge Lacy waa a member of the
Jacksonville First United Method-
ist Gbofch, where he served on the
Administrative Board and aa an
usher. He was a Jacksonville Volun-
teer Fireman for more than 22 years,
a 32nd degree Mason and a member
of Lodge 108 in Jacksonville, where
he received his 50 year pin in 1983
and his 60 year pin and certificate in

Funeral for Cheba Polk Durham,
94, of Forest, was at 10 a.m. Satur-
day in the Forest Baptist Church
with Bobby King officiating. Burial
was in Thompson Cemetery at For-
est under the direction of Gibson
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Durham died Wednesday at
Lufkin hospital. She was born March
1,1901, in Rusk. Mrs. Durham was
a church pianist for the Forest Bap-
tist Church for more than 45 years.
She was also a Sunday school and
vacation Bible school teacher at the
church.Mrs. Durham waa preceded
in deatn by her husband of 63 years,
Tom Dick (T.D.) Durham in 1979,
two daughters, Lorraine Durham in
1988 and Dorothy Roye in 1993 and
a brother, H.C. Polk in 1994.
Survivors include a granddaugh-
ter and grandson-in-law, Vonnie
Roye and John Bryant of Spring-
field, Va.; a grandson and grand-
daughter-in-law, Buster and Paula
Roye of Austin; three great-grand-
children, Laura, Patrick and Jay
Bryant; a step-great-grandchild,
Isaac Roye; a sister-in-law, Mrs. H.
C. Polk of Lufkin; and several nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ray Polk, Edgar
Rqye, Houston Ivie, Leonard Chan-
dler, Norris Stokes and Ferril Smith.

Graveside services for Betty
Guynell Rogers, 69, of Normangee
was at 10 a.m. Saturday at the
Douglass Cemetery with Wil Odom
officiating. Arrangements were un-
der the direction of O.T. Allen & Son
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rogers died Wednesday at
her home. She was born Dec. 21,
1925, in Nacogdoches County. 8hé
was a homemaker, a Baptist and a
graduate of Cushing High School.
Survivors are a son and daughter-
in-law, Al and Pam Rogera of
, Normangee; two daughters and sons-
in-law, Sherry and Jackie Reed of
Alvin, Donna Byfield and Gary
LaCrosse of Detroit, Mich.; a brother,
Charles Wade of Jacksonville; three
sisters, Inez Grimes of Alto, Helen
Haney of Hudaon and Dorothy
Cornelius of Rusk; and five grand-
children.
Elolae Agnew
Graveside servicos were held
March 8 in San Marcos for Eloiae
Agnew. She died in a Rusk nuraing
home on March 5, and waa the sister
of Vivian Summers.
Ms. Agnew received her B.A. de-
gree from Southwest Texas Univer-
sity, an MA. degree from the Uni-
versity of Texas at Austin, and a
librarian degree from the Univer-
sity of Illinois.
She worked as a librarian for the
University of Houston and the Hous-
ton I.S.D. for more than 40 years.
"She touched many young people
along the way," said Mrs. Summers.
She is survived by a brother,
Walker Agnew of Sarasota, Fla., a
sister, Kathryn Doolittle of San An-
tonio, and several nieces and neph-

was 88 years old.
Bannie M. Holbrook
Funeral for Bannie Mae Holbrook,
80, of Cuahing, waa at 2 p.m. Tues-
day in the Dickie Allen Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed
Williamaon officiating. Burial waa
McKnight Cemetery.
Mrs. Holbrook died Sunday in a
Nacogdoches hospital. She was born
July 31, 1914, in Nacogdoches. She
was a lifelong resident of the county,
the retired owner and operator of
Cuahing Dress and Fabric Shop and
a member of the Douglass Baptist
Church.
Survivors are her husband, Ber-
nard William Holbrook of Cushing;
a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence
and Nel Holbrook of Ruak; a daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Shirley and
Wayne Wilson of OTallon, 111.; a
brother, Olen Wade of Cushing; a
sister, Verde Wheeles of Cuahing;
three grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ken Wheeles,
Donnie Wade, Joel Williamaon,
Charlea Williamson, Bob Wade and
Bill Wade.
Mack Young
Funeral for Mack Young, 84, of
Craft, was at 10 a.m. Thursday in
the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. John Cole officiating.
Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery in
Morrow, Ark.
Mr. Young died March 6 in Jack- '
aonville. He was born in Henderson
and had lived at Jackaonville for 10
years. He waa a retired line foreman
for Southwestern Electric Service
Co. with 30 yeara of service. He waa
a 50-year member of the Washing-
ton Maaonic Lodge No. 1 in
Fayetteville, Ark. and a Baptist.
Survivors are two daughters and a
son-in-law, Carolyn and David
Fairbanks and Mary Jo Parker of
Jacksonville; a brother and sister-
in-law, Hardy and Vide 11 Young of
Copperaa Cove; three aiaters and
brothers-in-law, Martha and Casey
Barnett and Helen and Clifford
Tillison of Henderson and Joeey and
Millford Dorsey of Copperaa Cove;
seven grandchildren, Sara Israel,
Tom Fairbanka, Amy Fairbanka,
Deborah Parker, Chriaty Parker,
Bobbye Parker and Megan Parker.
