I am writing this in response to
an article published in the Febru-
ary 11 issue of the Hilltop Views.
The article’s headline read “SEU
But gambling is not the only game in town.
The magnificence of the strip itself will leave
you walking around like a “hillbilly” with your
mouth hanging open. There are castles, pirate
ships that have real battles twice daily, gondo-

“There are many high-profile uni-
versities throughout the U.S. that
accept rugby as a school-spon-
sored sport. I understand that
some have argued that rugby is
somehow related to sexual harass-
ment. I would argue that sexual
harassment has more to do with
the use of alcohol and the
Dance Team.
I was upset by this negative
headline in relationship to the pic-
ture of the team.
Our team has worked very hard
and against all odds to show
school spirit here at SEU and this
is the thanks we get? We practice
Sundays, Wednesdays, and Friday
afternoons, just to be sure we’re
ready for our Saturday perfor-
mances. We don’t receive any
kind of financial funding and our
team has to practically pull teeth
to get to perform at sporting event
half times.
We, as members of the SEU
Elite Dance Team, take pride in
our devotion to St. Edward’s and
we refuse to let school spirit be-
come a true letdown in 2000.
IT Tant to go to Paris, Venice, Egypt and New
W York City for Spring Break? You can
faux travel to all of those places for peanuts if
you go to Las Vegas. __

the new Star Trek experience.
You will never be bored.
Who knows. You could come
back a big winner. Just three
seats over, a 24-year-old was wit-
nessed winning the BMW

spinning above a circle of slot
machines. He said what you or I

“Rugby is not a university spon-
sored sport. In my opinion, as
long they are not sponsored by St.
Ed’s. they cannot be held account-
able for their actions. Still, it
would be beneficial for the Rams
to clean up their act and then the
university can sponsor them.
Rams cannot expect SEU to pick
them up if their off-campus hab-
its continue.”
