The Call of Duty fran-
chise has been on a major
winning streak in the past
several years, with the criti-
cal smashes “Modern War-

2” riding the highest waves.
These two games alone
have sold almost 40 million
copies worldwide across
the three leading game
platforms: the Playstation
3, the Xbox 360 and the
Nintendo Wii. So, when
the next installment of the
franchise, titled” Black Ops,”
was announced in April, it
caused no small amount of
excitement.

This year, the City of Aus-
tin will notice a change in its
annual holiday traditions: the
Trail of Lights will no longer
take place in Zilker Park.
There are plans to still set
up the 155-foot Zilker Tree,
but that’s about it. So where
else can Austinites go to see
some of the city’s best lights?
Here are a couple of the must
see places this December:
38th Street:

from standard sparking

lawn decorations like ovens
and chandeliers. Visitors
are welcome to walk up and

Carols and usually some free
hot chocolate. The lights are
some of the best in the city,
and the festival gives students
a chance to celebrate the holi-
days together before going
home for the holiday break.
If you miss the festival,
don’t’ worry, the lights will
stay on long after the choir
stops singing.
But if you’re really looking
to get the most out of Austin’s
holiday experience, your best
bet is to simply drive around
some of Austin’s neighbor-
hoods and check out their
light displays. Or take a
trip downtown and see the
Christmas tree at the Capi-
tol. So grab some holiday
music, turn on the car heater
and enjoy Christmastime in
Austin.
