Congressman Turner will be in
Cherokee County Tuesday, April
14 to meet with residents of Rusk,
Jacksonville and surrounding com-
munities. Congressman Turner
will be at the Cherokee County
Courthouse in Rusk at 3 p.m. and
at the Norman Activity Center in
Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m.
"My job is to represent the val-
ues and interests of the people of
Cherokee County," Congressman
Turner said. "The only way for me
to do that job properly is to talk
with people face to face and hear
what they think about the issues
facing our county."
During the month of April, Con-
gressman Turner plans to visit
with people in each of the nineteen
counties that make up the Second
Congressional District.
"We have many important is-
sues pending in Congress, and this
is a good time to talk directly with
the people who sent me to repre-
sent them in Washington," Con-
gressman Turner said. "It's a very
enjoyable part of the job. The
people of East Texas care very
deeply about our communities and
our country, and I always learn a
lot."
Congressman Turner and his
staff will also discuss specific prob-
lems people are having with Social
Security, the Veterans Adminis-
tration or other federal agencies.
"Our district staff works full-
time to help resolve these prob-
lems, but I know that many people
prefer to visit face-to-face about
matters of personal concern to
them," Congressman Turner said.
"This is my way of bringing our
office to them."
