Among those from here attend-
ing school at North Texas State
University, Denton, this year are
as follows: Gary Nichols, son of
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Nichols;
Johnny O’Pry, son of Mrs. Doris
White; and Ronald Ruyle, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Ruyle, who
is entering his second year there.
Philip Cody, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bates Cody, is also attending
North Texas this year, while his
wife is working to help get him
through.
On Wednesday evening the
Sunbeams met for their regular
meeting at the Baptist Church
and observed their Week of Pray-
er for State Missions, and fol-
lowing their meeting, all age
groups and their leaders met to-
gether in Fellowship Hall and
promotion certificates were hand-
ed out. The Eight year old Sun-
beam^ who were called “World
Friends” that were promoted to
the Girl’s Auxiliary organization
were Jaqueta Lorance, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Lorance;
Sally Airhart, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. C. T. Airhart; Ann Wy-
song, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Loma McGuffey and Mrs. Lona
McCarley. Refreshments of cake
and punch were served to the

for Mrs. Bessie Lindsey, and a
reunion of the Bates and John-
son families on Sunday in the
home of Mrs. Lindsey’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John D. Bates in
McKinney. Around 42 were pres-
ent.
Mr. J. R. Shelley attended the
Layman’s Retreat at Lavon En-
campment last week. Bishop Ken-
neth Pope brought the last mess-
age on Sunday morning, Sept. 27.

Mrs. Alice Bellows of Arling-
ton, who is visiting her son, Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Bellows, was taken
to the Sherman. Community Hos-
pital last Thursday. Her many
friends here wish her a speedy

Army Sgt. Robert V. Doss, 30,
whose wife, Evia, lives at 207 S.
Washington, Farmersville, was
assigned to the 7th Infantry Di-
vision in Korea, Sept. 10.
A gunner in the 6th Battalion
of the division’s 80th Artillery,
Doss entered the Army in Nov-
ember 1958 and was stationed at
Fort Sill, Okla., before arriving
overseas.
Doss attended St. Peters Cath-
olic High School.

Miss Patsy Lorance celebrated
her 10th birthday on Friday, Sep-1
tember 25th.
W. R. Brazeal celebrated his
birthday on Thursday, Oct. 1.
The Ruth Sunday School Class
of the First Baptist Church met
for their regular monthly social
in Fellowship Hall on Friday
night, with Mrs. Georgia Smith
as hostess. Mrs. Smith presided
due to the absence of the presi-
dent. Mrs. John Kee brought the
devotional. During the business
meeting the nominating commit-
tee brought before the class their
nominations for officers for the
coming year. Mrs. Doris Hanson
lead in prayer. Secret pals were
revealed with each one receiving
nice gifts from their pals, and
new names drawn for the next
three months. Refreshments of
chocolate cake, punch and coffee
were served to the six members
and one guest, Mrs. Tommy Burk,
present.
Our deepest sympathy is ex-
tended to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wy-
song and other relatives on the
passing of his mother, Mrs. Pearl '
Wysong, on Saturday evening.

Mrs. Barney Thompson is some
better now, but was very ill week
before last. Her many friends are
happy to hear of her being bet-
ter.

party on his 6th birthday Friday,
September 25, by his mother, Mrs.
Stanley Smith. He received many
nice gifts from his little friends
in attendance as follows: Brian
and Dwayne Holman, Debbie,
Ricky and Joey Hanson, Joseph

Christi Burk of Elmont, Jimmy
