Patti and Cindy Parker of Gar-

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Reed and
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Murphy and
son, Donnie, of Leonard, have re-
turned from vacationing at
Shreveport, Louisiana, Jefferson
City, Lake of the Pines and other
historical spots in that area.
Mrs. Virgil Miller of Celina and
Miss Quincy Sherley, honored the
girl members of the Anna High
School graduating class at the
Miller home, recently. Their sis-
ter, Miss Martha Sherley was a
member of the class.
The Reverend and Mrs. Lewis
Earl Lee attended the Mission
Conference at Fort Worth last
week, and will attend the South-
ern Baptist Convention at Dallas
this week. They will stay with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Lee at Dallas, while attending the
convention.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Slaughter
and family of Rio Vista were
week-end guests of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Slaughter.
A vacation Bible School spon-
sored by the Methodist and
Christian Church, began Monday
at Methodist Church. The Rev.
erend Davis Sahr is director of
the school.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Ray Ren-
fro and Russ of Richardson, spent
Memorial Day with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Renfro.
The Reverend David Sahr has
been re-assigned as pastor of the
Westminster, Melissa and Anna
Churches, by the Methodist Con-
ference, which is delightful news
to his congregation. The Sahrs
have been living in our commun-
ity for the past several months
and are active in all community
projects.
Improvements are on tap for
the local Methodist Church. They
are installing aluminum windows
throughout the church, and plans
call for a general paint and clean-
up job. Several of the members
are donating their time to this
worthy cause.
Harry Porter, Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. H. J. Porter, of the
Marine Corps, stationed in Ten-
nessee, has been a recent guest
of his parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Harral-
son and children of Dallas, were
Friday night and Saturday guests
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Reno.

George H. Lacy, Jr. of Prince-
ton, who has been attending
school in Commerce, visited his
aunt, Mrs. Jewell Arnold on Sun-
day, May 23.
Mr. and Mi’s. Kenneth McKin-
nis and Sherral from Washington,
D. C., are here visiting his par-
ents Supt. and Mrs. Joe McKin-
nis. He works for the Census
Bureau there.
Mrs. John Starnes has return-
ed home from the hospital and
her many friends wish her a
speedy recovery.
Master Brent Mangum has re-
cently had the mumps and Joseph
Kee is now confined to home with
them.
Eighth grade graduation ex-
ercises were held in the High
School Auditorium on Wednes-
day night, May 26. Those grad-
uating to the ninth grade were
Bobby Hernandez, Connie and
Lonnie Ruyle, Billy and Willie
Strickland, Ann Miller, Kathy
Hendricks, Cathy White, Paula
and Freddy Walden, Ocy Don
Hale, Gayle Nichols, Sue Smith,
Linda Brazeal, Alan Summers,
Betty Lou Carroll, and Mickey
Murphy. A party was held in
Fellowship Hall at the Baptist
Church following the exercises
for the graduates. Their parents,
teachers and ushers, Billy Ben-
nett, Debbie Summers, Bob Har-
low and Jaqueta Kee, were
guests. Bro. Bill Beebe was in
charge of the games and songs
after which lovely refreshments
were served. Also a film “The
God of All Creation” was shown
which was enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Reba Bell was surprised
with a “late” birthday party on
Wednesday evening by the Junior
Choir of the Christian Church of
which she is the song leader. The
hostesses served refreshments and
gave Mrs. Bell a gift from all the
members of money to buy her a
dress.
Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Roskin
and family from Midwest City,
Okla., are here visiting her broth-
er and family, Mr. and Mrs.
George Madden. They attended
graduation exercises at McKin-
ney on Friday night, in which
John Edward was one of the
members. Was good to see that
John Edward was among the Hon-
or graduates there with an aver-
age of 93.7058.
A Bridal Shower was given on
Thursday night in Fellowship
Hall at the Baptist Church honor-
ing Miss Sondra Jenkins, bride
to close the wound.
Mrs. C. J. White will be hostess
to the Bethany Home Demonstra-
tion Club, Thursday, June 3. All
members are expected to be pres-
ent. Time, 2:00 p.m.
Reverend and Mrs. Cooper Mar-
shall of Okeechobee, Florida,
were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Gilliland and Sara Sue, the past
week. Reverend Marshall was
formerly a pastor in Collin Coun-
ty. The Marshalls will attend the
Southern Baptist Convention in
Dallas.
Mrs. John Holt attended a fam-
ily get-together and luncheon in
McKinney, Friday, honoring the
birthday of her sister, Mrs. Ida
Knowles.
Mrs. Joe Wilson and Grady
spent the week-end with relatives
in Fort Worth.
Lynge and Stacy Lumber Com-
pany are remodeling their place
of business, which adds much to
its appearance.
Mrs. B. F. Fondville of Garland
was a guest of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Gene Ereckson, Friday.
C. V. Summers has returned to
his home in California, after a
visit with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Luther Summers. He serves
with the Merchant Marines.
The Crawford-Moseley Food
Market is adding an addition to
the rear of their store which will
give them much needed space.
Friday evening guests of Mr.
and Mrs. E. W. Oxford, were Mr.
and Mrs. James Oxford and Scot-
ty of McKinney, and Miss Shir-
ley Oxford and Pat Hatchel of
Dallas. Mr. and Mrs. Oxford ac-
companied by James Oxford and
family were Dallas visitors Sun-
day.

The Senior Class of Anna High
School left Friday night, follow-
ing Commencement exercises, for
Corpus Christi and other points.
They were accompanied by Lar-
ry Reaves and Mrs. Martha Wil-
liamson.
Mr. and Mrs. Connie McGuire
of McKinney, were Saturday
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leon
O’Neal.
We extend sympathy to Mrs.
Marion Risner in the loss of her
husband who passed away at the
Veterans Hospital in McKinney,
Wednesday. Funeral services
were held at the Christian Church
Friday afternoon.
Miss Ermyne Blevins of Odessa
was a guest last week of her
aunt, Mrs. J. C. Parker. While
here, Mrs. Parker and Miss Blev-
ins visited with friends and re-
latives at Whitewright, Bells,
McKinney and Dallas, and enjoy-
ed fishing at Lake Lavon and
Tawakoni. She returned home
Sunday.
The Reverend and Mrs. Jerry
Poteet and some of the Baptist
members are attending the South-
ern Baptist Convention at Dallas
this week.
Miss Mary Smith is showing
further improvement at the home
of her nephew, Dr. William
Smith, at Carthage. Hosea
Rutherford is up and about after
a sudden attack of illness, and
Mrs. Bessie Luscombe has been
progressing well at the home of
her sister,- Mrs. Rebecca Brune,
since her return from the hospi-
tal.
The Commencement exercises
for the Senior Class of Anna High
School were held at the school
auditorium, Friday evening. May
28. Valedictory honors of the
1965 class went to Martha Sher-
ley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Sherley. She will attend
T.C.U. this fall. The Salutatorian
was Mary Catherine Evans, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil
Evans, who also plans, to attend
college this fall. Mrs. Jimmie Lee
Smith, music teacher, was pre-
sented a beautiful fruit bowl by
the school faculty, for her help-
ful assistance toward all the
school programs for the year.
The Reverend John Long, who
has been pastor of the Christian
Church here for the past year,
has resigned and will go to San
Angelo, where he will pastor a
church. Reverend Long delivered
his farewell message Sunday
morning. The Ministerial Supply
Department at Texas Christian
University will send a student to
preach next Sunday.
A Vacation Bible School will
begin Monday, June 7, at the Bap-
tist Church here, with classes
from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. daily
through Friday. The Reverend
Jerry Poteet will be the principal.
Closing exercises will be held
Friday night, June 11.
Kelley Paul Cooke, Jane White,
and Amoret Geer attended the

that Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ewen of
Long Beach, California, will be
here around July 1. We welcome
them back to Allen. They bought
a home in the Southeast addition.
Mrs. Ewen is the former Capp
Wilson, and has many friends
here, having been born and rear-
ed here, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Wilson.
L. J. Lynn is a patient in Col-
lin Memorial, having been involv-
ed in a car wreck Friday after-
noon, in which he received what
is not thought to be serious i n-
juries.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Altimore
and family left this week-end for
a t wo week vacation. Mr. Alti-
more is music director of the First
Baptist Church.
Mrs. Billy F. Howlett was a
Plano visitor Thursday.
Mr. Alf Alexander was a Plano
visitor Thursday.
Other students home from
school are Garry Hefner, who at-
tends Texas Tech, son of Mr. and
Mrs. H. E. Hefner; Butch Holt
who attends A&M, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Virgil Holt; and Miss Sue
Hedgcoxe of T.W.U., daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hedgcoxe.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Taylor were
luncheon guests, Sunday, of their
son. Alton Taylor, and family of
McKinney. It was Alton’s birth-
day.
Albert Bolin is receiving treat-
ment in Baylor Hospital in Dal-
las.
Louis A. Williams and family of
Corpus Christi, were week-end
guests of his father, V. A. Wil-
liams.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Tunnell
of Dallas, were week-end guests
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.
E. Hefner.
Reverend and Mrs. Leon
Chumbley, Mesdames W. R. Tay-
lor, and C. L. Ereckson, and Cathy
Carpenter, attended the Southern
Baptist W.M.U. and Brotherhood
meeting in Dallas, Monday.
Danny Jack Curtis is home on
a fourteen day leave from the
armed forces. He reports to Fort
Benning, Georgia, June 11. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Curtis.
Members of the Bi-Weekly Club
and guests, Mrs. William Henry
Brown, Brenda Painter, Sheri
Roundtree, Debra Ereckson, Geor-
gia Rutherford, Pam and Karen
Cundiff, attended “Hello Dolly”
at the State Fair Music Hall, Fri-
day night, and all reported it was
a treat.

Miss Helen Wysong of Dallas

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Wysong and

Misses Sharon and Karen Bry-
ant are home for summer vaca-
tion from college at Lubbock.
Jimmy Wysong of North Texas
State University is at home for a
few days between semesters.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kee, Jaqueta

and Dalton, and Mr. and Mrs.
L. S. Settle and Suzie, attended
the program and graduation ex-
ercises for their sons, Joseph Kee,
and David Smith, from Kinder-
garten at the First Presbyterian
Church, McKinney, on Tuesday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jones at-
tended the program and gradua-
tion exercises for their daughter,
Lisa Dianne, also, at the Presby-
terian Church on Tuesday night.
Mrs. Jones’ mother from Weath-
erford and her sister and broth-
er-in-law from Dallas also at-
tended the ercersises.

Baird over the weekend withs
their son and daughter-in-law, J

Mrs. W. T. Rolater of McKin-
ney was a dinner guest of Mrs.
Ida Herndon last Thursday. In
the afternoon they visited Mrs.
Lizzie Duff and Mr. and Mrs.
Clifton Beall.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phillips at-
tended the wedding of their great
niece, Miss Camilla Agee, last
Saturday evening at East McKin-
ney Christian Church. She is the
daughter of Mrs. Rebecca Agee,
Director of Nurses at Collin
Memorial Hospital. Reception
was at the home of Dr. C. M.
Shumway.
Rev. and Mrs. Loren White and
. children of San Antonio stopped
by the Baptist Church here Mon-
day while on way to attend the
Baptist Convention in Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe . Settle of
Richardson visited their niece and
