Completes Course
FORT MONMOUTH, N.J. —
Army Pvt. Van J. Stiba Jr., 22,
whise wife, Shirley, lives at 1507
Jones St., Taylor, Tex., recently
completed the 11-week ordnance
electronic entry courses at The
Signal School, Fort Monmouth,
N.J.
Stiba received instruction in the
application of electronics princi-
ples to the repair and mainten-
ance of integrated fire control
and guided missile equipment.
The 22-year-old soldier entered
the Army last January and com-
pleted basic training at Fort
Carson, Colo.
Stiba, whose parents live on
Route 1, Taylor, is a 1958 gra-
duate of Taylor High School and
attended the University of Texas
in Austin.
Before entering the Army, he
was employed by Beards Spring
& Brake Service.

The Williamson County Associa-
tional Woman’s Missionary Un
ion of the Baptist Churches of
the county will sponsor a Sun-
beam camp Wednesday, 10 a.
m. to 2 p.m. in the Fellowship
Hall of the First Baptist Church
in Taylor.
The Sunbeam Bands of the
Baptist Churches of Williamson
County will be the participants
in the camp ,the Sunbeams, an
organization with missionary pur-
poses for both boys and girls
through 8 years of age, fostered
by the W. M. U. of the churches
in the county.
The camp, designed for 8 years
old, is also open to all boys
and girls 4 through 8 years of
age. Each child is asked to
bring a sack lunch and a mis-
sionary offering.
The program will be directed
by Mrs. R. I. Goodrich, Sunbeam
director in the First Baptist
Church of Taylor; Miss Mattie
Loventhal of Georgetown, Asso-
ciational W.M.U. president, will
bring the welcome; Mrs. Carlos
Paredes of Austin home mission-
ary among the Latin Americans
will be the story teller; others
will assist and the WMU of the
First Baptist Church of Taylor
will provide cold drinks for the
party.
Registration starts at 10 a.m.
followed by singing and a wor-
ship period. The program will
also include a hike to the park,
handicraft, and games.

All Vacancies
Filled at Elgin
ELGIN, Aug. 11 (Spl) —All
vacancies have been filled in the
Elgin Independent School Dis-
trict.
Daniel Garrison of Waller was
elected to teach math and sci-
ence in the junior high school;
Jerry Mann of Austin, was elect-
ed to teach math in the high
school. The new social studies
teacher for the eighth grade
will be Mrs. Betty Jo Yarbrough
of Austin.
The board accepted the resigna-
tion of Mrs. L. S. Dubberly,
due to illness, and elected Mrs.
Melvin Murphy of Elgin.
The board also accepted the
H. Foreman Agency of San An-
tonio for the student and athletic
insurance for the 1962-63 school
year.
The board set the opening date
for the 1962-63 school term on
Sept. 4.
