GOOD DAY FOR VOTERS
Saturday, the day of the
primaries proved a good day
for the voters in Kendall Coun-
ty, and proved to be the day
of days for politicians in
Texas.
The primaries, in a way, are
as important as elections in
November.. The temperament
of the people and their deci-
sions are shown in the follow-
ing results:
None of the amendments
carried. Number one, For or
Against permitting sale of
liquor by the drink ; No. 2,
Permitting horse racing with
pari-mutuel betting on horse
races; No. 3, To create a law
for the Texas Dairy Commis-
sion with power to regulate
and fix milk prices.

BOERNE GRANGE NEWS
Mrs. George C. Mitchell has
been very busy in both Grange
and local civic activities, and
has received an award for out-
standing achievement in the
local tuberculosis drive. She is
continuing in this work in con-
nection with the Mobile TB
X-ray unit coming to Boerne
in July. Members of Boer-
ne Grange were asked by the
chapter’s home ec. committee
to aid the staff of the mobile
unit on that day.
On the literary portion of
the May 3 meeting of Boerne
Grange, Mrs. George Mitchell,
aided by Mrs. Phil Musto,
tried out the audio testing
machine, which will be used
in testing local school children
under the auspices of the local
PTA.
Sgt. Phillip W. Musto re-
cently had taken homemade
cookies donated by chapter
members to Mitchell Hall Ser-
vice Club. Seems those Air
Force boys knew exactely
what to do with them!
Standing committee reports
indicate progress on all cur-
rent Grange endeavors, includ-
ing the Blue Cross group
additional road signs and ac-
tivities of those members con-
tinuing to work in the public
library.
A committee of the follow-
ing members, Harry Grosser,
Joe Nickel, A. F. Leesch and
Elmer Pfeiffer were named to
draw up resolutions to be pre-
sented for approval to local
county and state Granges the
next several months.
Blue Bonnet Grange ex-
tends an invitation to all
Boerne members to help them
celebrate their twenty-fifth
anniversary at the Canyon
Jr. High School 3 to 6 P. M.
June 2 at New Braunfels.
It was most interesting to
learn that the new “Miss Fie-
sta” of San Antonio (the
twins, Amalea and Anabel
Hart) are the daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. Jerome S. Hart
of that city, who are members
of the Boerne Grange.
Next meeting date is May
17. During June, July, Aug-
ust and September there will
be only one meeting each
month. These on the third
Fridays.
