mitted to the Confederate home only
four weeks ago, died Friday. The
body was taken to Georgetown for
burial yesterday. Mr. Speegle was

The funeral of John Nelson Leeper,
aged 76, who died at the Confederate
home Friday, was held yesterday af-
ternoon. Interment was in the state
cemetery. Mr. Leeper was born In
Virginia in 1561 and during the war
was a member of Company C, Ninth
Mississippi infantry. John P. Cloud's
brigade. trans-Mississippi 4. partment.
He came to Texas in 1175 aid was ad-
mitted to the home about ten years

leadership of United States Steel and
Marine preferred. Sugars and muni-
tions iasues also showed great recu-
perative rower. Some stocks gained

Mra. Margaret Scott Carrington,
widow of W. H. D. Carrington and a
resident of Texas for more than a
half oentury. died shortly after mid-
night Friday night Funeral services
will be conducted at 1:50 o’clock Sun-
day afternoon in the family home. 910
Lavaca street Interment in Oak-
wood cemetery. The pallbearers will
be: R- H. Connerly, Charles Spal-
ding. Fred T. Connerly, Morris Hirsh-
fold. Emmett Carrington and Leo Car-
rington.
Mrs. Carrington was born in Co-
lumbia. 8. C., March 13. 1111. She
was married to W. H. D. Carrington,
a practicing lawyer of Columbus.
Miss., in 1151. In October. 1554. Mr.
and Mrs. Carrington, accompanied by
several other families, set out for
Texas. There being no railroad, they
had to travel overland, camping on
the way. They reached Texas in De-
cember, 1454. Boon afterwards they
settled in Austin.
Mrs. Carrington is survived by one
daughter. Miss Lillian Carrington of
this city, four grandsons, Dr. Hubbard
Carrington. Walter Carrington. Dan:el
C. Imboden and Wiley David Imboden,
one granddaughter. Mignonette
Pearce; three great-grand daughters,
Margaret, Lily and Evelyn Carrington,
and three great-grandsons, Chester,
DeWitt and William Carrington.
