Being a wife is BIG BUSINESS—
just about as big as is to be found
in the world.
How frequently does one hear:
"I love him more than he does
me.”
“He wouldn’t have done that when
we were first married.”
“He stays out evenings now.”
"She is attracting my husband.”
I wonder what has come over
him?”
"Why did he enlist, when he did
not have to go, and leave mo and the
children?”
The real trouble is that too many
girls believe that marriage carries
with it THE RIGHT OF SUPPORT.
Tes, in law it does.
But the law does NOT compel a
man to LOVE his wife.
It does not compel a man to
LIVE WITH his wife.
It does not say that a man SHALL
show his wife tender affection.
The law only says that a man
must provide sufficient income for
his wife to prevent her becoming a
charity charge against the state.
Too many mothers educate their
daughters to sing, to play, to paint,
to dance, to cook, to dress—without
teaching them how to become COM-
PANIONS of their husbands.

have hourly interests in common

The families of these men will be

Five dollars a month may be a
small affair to many persona, but
to the average man with a family
it means an extra pair of shoes for
the child, another suit of clothes for
the boy, a new hat for the lady at
home.
It means a more contented mind,
and a better and more wholesome
appreciation of the duties and re-
sponsibilites.
It means also that Austin can do
without threats of strikes or actual
strikes, and means finally that ths
city administration is tarsightd and
