WASHINGTON, June 9.—Congress
began the fourth week of its new
session today with the Senate con-
sidering the bill of Senator Kellogg
of Minnesota. Republican, providing
for the repeal of the law authorising
the Government control of telegraph,
telephone and cable wires, and the
House at work on the 8800,000,000
army appropriation bill.
Action on the K~logg hill by the
Senate was not expected before late
in the week, as lively debate on the
action of Postmaster General Burle-
son In ordering operation of wire lines
returned to private control and the
strike of commercial telegraphers and
telephone operators was looked for.
The army appropriation bill as
presented to the House today pro-
vides for an army of 400,000 men and
in addition to being stripped of gen-
eral legislation represented a consid-
erable reduction in the amount orig-
inally sought by the War Department
Wednesday or Thursday the naval bill
will be taken up and throughout the
week appropriation bills are to have
the right of way.

ton market opened higher today and
rose strongly after the call on showery
weather over a large portion of the belt
and the local exports, this' port clear-
ing 36,528 bales for England and the
continent. In the first hour of trad-
ing prices advanced 91 to 94 points.
The forecast of showers for a large
part of the cotton belt increased the
demand for contracts. Shorts covered

Canada, asks that he be given the care
and custody of his three minor chil-

vious to the filing of the present case,
Mrs. Anna B. Simar obtained a di-
voice in the Criminal District Court
here upon the grounds of cruel treat-I
ment, and the children were given inte
the custody of Mrs. Simar. Later shU

T. Priest and Henning Bruh who are
charged with making false income and
excess profit returns in connection
with the operation of San Antonio
Brewing concerns, will come for con-
sideration early in the term.
During a hearing of the Bruhn case
last August, which resulted in a mis-
trial. testimony was that the money
Involved was a loan made to ex-Gov-
ernor Ferguson. The cases were con-
tinued from last session of the court,
and only ten cases precede them on
the criminal docket. . •
