ties of Cameron, has called a meat-
ing of that committee for Monday,
Dec. 31, the purpose of the meeting
being to provide for the raising of
funds for the work of the Chari-
ties in 1934.
Mrs. Cora Cammer, head of the
organization, reports that funds on
hand will be sufficient to carry on
the work until the end of the year,
but that the fund will have been
exhausted by that time.

their families and enjoy the hap-
piness of Yuletide.
Open Now Tests.
Even while the eve of Christmas
approaches, there sre other compa-
nies that are preparing, the open-
ine of a new drilling campaign.
The Coupe et al. Internets are ne-
gotiating for a new well in the
southwest part of the county. It was
learned today. The Pure Oil com-
pany of Mexia has announced its
intention of erftering the field and
the company's spouts have reported
favorably on Duadaiupe county.

county cover almost every direc-
tion from Seguin. U&S oil com-
pany Lopez No. 1 is reported cor-
ng ahead at a depth of 2000 feet.
Oil can be seen showing in the re-
turns. This well is expected to be
a producer. It is north of the
Shanklin well, which to shut down
at present. Their Manford No. 1
is drilling afound 3500 feet. They
have made several new locations.
The Tieman Oil company, on the
Tieman No. 1. is sill reported

if the succes of the last few yeare
of control work to an indication.
Commenting on the pregent situn-
ton of thie cotton peel—the pink
boll worm—the report of the fed-
eral horticultural board of the
United States’ department of agri-
culture states that the outstanding
feature of the pink bollworm situa-
tion in the United Slats at pres-
ent is that no new infestations
have been found during ths yesy,
and that except in the extreme
western districts no infestation
whatever has been determnied in
any of the territory where-the in-
sect had been previously estab-
lished, indicating the ultimate nuc-
cess of the effort to stamp out
thie peel la the main part of the
cotton belt.
The situation le especlally en-
couraging ip Louisiana, where in
the two large distrkcts originally
invaded no tntestation has been
found for over two ytars. le the
Trinity bay area in Texas, where
there wae much infentation In 1917
end where effort wee made to
eradieate the peel, hut on* in-
fested boll was dincoveted in 1021
None whatever were found la 1922
and 4923.
While the work of eradication
to now in a very natistactory con-
dition, it would be too much to
expect, aays the report, that there
