not believe in general that we have
given them enough thought. Since I
wrote articles in the September 1
and December 1, 1957 issues of
"Now", we have begun using cap-
screws with our Tournahead and 2
start thread, and our boys in the shop
are falling in love with them because
they screw in twice as fast as an
ordinary capscrew with the same
shape thread, and an ordinary 12
point socket will hold on our 12
point head.
Another feature of this capscrew
system which is leading to a great
deal of economy, not only from a
manufacturing and assembly point
of view, but from an upkeep point
of view also, is as follows. In order
to eliminate the possibility of a man

in a single start hole or vice versa,
we made them an odd size so you
can easily see the difference, and we
made them in three sizes only, so
you don't need to keep as many sizes
in stock, and you only need three
taps and three dies to cover every
size needed from above 3/8 up to and
including 1-5/16. The sizes are 9/16,
15/16 and 1-5/16. That's close
enough together for anybody and
from now on all machines are being
designed with everything between
3/8 and 2" covered by these three
sizes. And we can sell you taps and
dies in these three sizes made out of
