The Cure For Loneliness
Although loneliness is one of
man's universal experiences, psychi-
atrists cannot agree on a definition
-or a cure.
At least one psychiatrist believes
that loneliness is at the root of all
mental problems. A patient describes
his loneliness in these words: "I can't
come close to people. I'm afraid if I
did I'd have to really be interested
in somebody else."
Of course, there is no other cure
for loneliness apart from introducing
someone else into the picture.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the best
-ure for loneliness. Although He
mingled with many men and women
in various walks of life, He also
knew the meaning of loneliness.
One of the prophets foretold that
loneliness when he wrote of Christ:
"He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted
with grief: and we hid as it were
our faces from him; he was despised,
and we esteemed him not" Isaiah
53:3.
On the cross our Lord cried: "My
God, my God, why hast thou for-
saken me?" Matthew 27:46.
Because He. knew the agonies of
loneliness, and because He died for
our sins, Christ said: "Come unto
me, all ye that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest" Mat-
thew 11:28.WILL DINKINS. A

uate of Olivet Nazarene College. Serving
as Admissions Counselor. Note: No photo

sions counselor-fund raiser. The writer to the Hebrews quotes
Him as saying: "I will never leave
thee nor forsake thee" Hebrews 13:5.
With this blessed assurance of His
abiding presence, the believer can
sing:
"On Life's pathway I am never lonely,
My Lord is with me, my Lord divine;
Ever present Guide, I trust Him only;
No longer lonely, for He is mine."
The cure for loneliness? There's
only one: His name is Jesus. Praise
His name!
How one man received a
plaque for donating .. .
One Pint Of His Blood
When Albert O. Roselth of Walnut
Creek, California, walked into the
Irwin Memorial Blood Bank in San
Francisco, to donate a pint of blood,
he was presented with a scroll of
appreciation by the managing direc-
tor of the blood bank, and by the
president of the American Associa-
tion of Blood Banks. His was the
millionth pint of donated blood re-
ceived by the Irwin Blood Bank.
After receiving the scroll, he said:
"I started donating blood during the
Korean War, when there were blood

working.
"I found it was an easy thing to
do-and it was important for the
person needing the blood. I've been
a regular donor since then because
I feel it is one of the best ways you
can do something for someone else."
We don't know the ,total amount
of blood Mr. Roselth donated. But
his noble act and kind words cause
us to -recall the redemptive act and
living words of the greatest Blood
Donor of all history: the One who
gave all His blood . . .
As He took the cup at the insti-
tution of the Lord's Supper, the Lord
Jesus said: "This is my blood of the
new testament (or covenant), which
is shed for many for the remission
of sins" Matthew 26:28.
It was no easy matter for Him to
give all-not just a small quantity
-of His life's blood for those who
hated, despised and rejected Him,
but He willingly paid that price for
our redemption.
He is the Great Shepherd,'"brought
again from the dead . . . through the
blood of the everlasting covenant"
Hebrews 13:20. And He saves to the
uttermost all who come unto God by
Him.
Blessed-indeed is every person
who can say with the spirit and with
the understanding:
"Just as I am without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me;
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!"
Mr. Roselth received an award for
his gift of blood, plus the thanks of
someone whose life he may have
saved. Jesus Christ received a new-
made sepulchre for His blood-plus
the everlasting thanks of millions
who have found forgiveness and
salvation through His sacrificial gift.Cfeuc ' f4C4
