LeTOURNEAU NOW OFFERS MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY DEGREE
iseoth win' ocr within .^ r .Because of the growing concern wti
our nation for the physical well being of
our citizens, a strong emphasis is being
placed upon the development of the health
sciences. This emphasis has resulted in an
increased demand for medical
technologists who will devote their
energies to clinical laboratory work.
Occupational opportunities in this field
are expanding. In Texas alone medical
technologists are the second most sought
after personnel in the allied health fields.
To help meet this demand LeTourneau
College now offers a bachelor of science
degree specially designed for students

CLThe LeTourneau College automotive
department has received equipment donations
from Massey-Ferguson Inc. and the Ford Motor
Co. both of which are greatly appreciated.
Massey-Ferguson donated a Hanomag D963
diesel engine for use in the diesel engine lab. This
contribution was arranged by Howard Hill, an
alumnus of LeTourneau, and Lloyd Hendry,
Engineering Coordinator at Massey-Ferguson in
Detroit. The engine was transported to the college
by Dwayne Luman, Longview's Massey-Ferguson
dealer.I'nn- 1 k Iw a -t e fa S t- L' tion
Professor Earl Thompson points out some of the features on the
diesel power train recently donated to the college by Ford Motor
Company. The Hanomag engine provides students with an
opportunity to experiment with an unusual and
large German made diesel.
A Ford tractor power train valued at over
$6,700 has been received from the Brown-Miller
Ford Tractor Co. of Longview through the Ford
Motor Company's Tractor and Implement
Operations Department.
The power train is a three-cylinder diesel engine
with an eight-speed manual transmission and rear
axle.
These donations to the automotive technology
program assist the college in acquiring a complete
line of equipment for use by students in the diesel
laboratory.
This year 35 students are enrolled in the
automotive technician program. This is a 5
semester course of study which has some
advantages not found at other schools.
LeTourneau students not only prepare for an
occupation in a field becoming more technically
sophisticated, but they are also exposed to college
level courses in areas like history, english,
business and Bible which broadens their
understanding of people and the world.
Another unique feature is that students who
decide to continue beyond the 5 semesters
required for the automotive technician's
certificate can apply their course work to a
bachelor of arts degree in a related field of interest
to them.LeTourneau
