KANSAS CITY RABBINATE JOIN
IN LOCAL PROJECT EQUALITY
Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 2.
(JTA)—The Rabbinal Association
of Greater Kansas City joined
forces today with seven other reli-
gious denominations here to
launch a local Project Equality,
an inter-religious effort to utilize
the purchasing power of religious
institutions to broaden equality of
job opportunity. Rabbi William
B. Silverman of Temple B’nai
Jehudah is representing the rab-
binal group in the new organiza-
tion.
Under the Project Equality pro-
gram, participating churches, syn-
agogues and related institutions
agree to take affirmative action
to end any discriminatory prac-
tices found in their own hiring
practices, and they require similar
action on the part of their sup-
pliers of goods and services. Fu-
ture contract awards for these
goods and services will be based
on the merit employment practices
of suppliers, as well as on the
usual requirements of price, qual-
ity and service.
