HOUSTON CHAPTER DELEGATES
AT NATIONAL O.R.T. CONVENTION
The 19th Biennial National
Convention of Women’s American
Organization for Rehabilitation
through Training was held Sept.
25-28 in Chicago. The Houston
Chapter was represented by Mrs.
Ben H. Harris, Mrs. Harry Kap-
lan and Mrs. Harvey Lieberman.
Among the many issues dis-
cussed was the planning for in-
creased support of the ORT-Israel
network of schools, some of whose
257 installations were shelled and
bombed during the recent Arab-
Israeli conflict. Also, to stimulate
local overseas support of schools
and to seek greater community
support for ORT’S world-wide pro-
gram which has proven so direct
and effective a way of meeting
many of the problems of our tech-
nological age.
ORT maintains over 600 voca-
tional training centers, schools
and workshops in 22 countries on
five continents. ORT has grown
constantly due to the demands of

growing nations for skilled man-
power. Men and women, boys and
girls receive training in more than
70 different skills and grades.
This high-standard vocational ed-
ucations is accessible to the under-
privileged.
The delegates from the Hous-
ton Chapter will report on the
Convention deliberations at the
October membership meeting on
