Proposal and Ways to Work With a
Publisher." All writers of Christian ma-

Club Reaches Raffle Goal
to benefit American Cancer
Society

Winnerfor the Lions Club American
Cancer Society Relay for Life package
was Doris Cook. Her name was drawn
at the April 26 club meeting. The six
items she received were a two-night
stay atthe Westin Inn; fourTexas State
Railroad tickets; breakfast for two at
the Ironhorse Mercantile; lunch fortwo
atthe Legacy of Harvey Collins; dinner
fortwo at the All Star Barbecue and $50
cash. The total package amounted to
approximately $400. Amy Derrington
put together the package and local
merchants donated the gifts. The
original goal set was to raise $2,000
and thus far the cl ub has raised $2,192
for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life was held April
30 at Mauldin Field in Jacksonville. All
members who brought a new member
into the club received a letter of ap-

the sight committee, reported at the
April 5 club meeting that the income
from White Cane Day Support for the
Blind amounted to $216.41. White
Cane Day was held at Brookshire
Brothers March 24. Workers were

Lions Club elects officers
Ardys Brown and Alicia Oliver. Appre-

New member Evelyn Stewart was
inducted into the Rusk Lions Club April
12 by Artys Brown. A short history of
Lions International, District 2 S-1 and
the Rusk Lions Club was presented.
A short history of Lionism reveals
that it was officially formed in October
of 1917. The Rusk club was organized
on Aug. 29, 1940, and chartered
on Oct. 24, 1940, with 28 charter
members. The club will send $100 to
be used for the parade honoring our
