Women United will celebrate
World Day of Prayer, the in-
ternational celebration of faith
and unity among Christian
women on Friday, March 2 at
1:15 p.m. at the St. Mark’s
Presbyterian Church. Women
in 168 countries will be pray-
ing around the theme “Alert
in Our Time.” Program leader,
St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

who first initiated World Day
of Prayer in 1887 firmly be-

BANQUET HELD
The Firsst Baptist Church
of Boerne, held its annual
Sweetheart Banquet on Feb.
12 in the Youth Center on
Main St. The theme, “Hearts
and Flowers,” was carried out
in beautiful pastel colors. The
stage setting was a miniature
garden effect. A white trellis
with green ivy, and large col-
orful flowers entwined, wicker

er in the Golden Slipper; and
fans will also welcome “Papa
Ed Whitworth” as he makes
a return engagement for the
run of the show.
Music consultant for the
show is veteran Laura Davis,
whom BBT welcomes back
with open arms. Laura has
worked with numerous BBT
shows, and played a big part
in the success of “A Night in
Deadwood” several years ago.
A cast of approximately 60
BBT members is expected to
take part in the new produc-
tion.

This year, Texas Public
Schools Week, an annual event
across the state, will be March
5-9. Parents and all other cit-
izens interested in the prog-
ress of Texas public education
for the last 119 years are in-
vited to visit a public school
during that week.

expecting many visitors and

World Day of Prayer is

international. It is the most
widely observed celebration
sponsored by Church Women
United — the movement

B.B.T. to Meet
On March 19
The Boerne Benefit Theatre
Inc. will meet on March 19 at
7 p.m. in the Junior High audi-
torium for the purpose of se-
lecting a project to receive
proceeds from this year’s
show. Any organization wish-
ing to request funds should
put in a written request to any
board member by March 10.
Board members are Dr. Rus-
sell Handley, president; Mrs.
Jane Quick, Mrs. Lucy Saxon,
Mr. Bob Magers, Mrs. John
Ebner, Mrs. Michael Schoch,
and Mr. Bill Goodall. The
board will then select three
projects to be presented to the
membership at the March 19
meeting. The membership will
vote to select one project that
will receive the annual dona-
tion derived from funds raised
at this year’s show. “Return
to Deadwood,” which will be
seen the first weekend in
April.
Directing the show will be

starring roles are Texas
Maxey as “Billie Jane
Hickock,” Richard Quick as
the sheriff; Marcia Beckett as
“Sally Ann,” and Randy Berg-
mann as “Black Bart!” Ver-
