LIBRARY NEWS
Now more about the arti-
cles in the library’s glass
bookcase. There is a pair of
antique brass Spanish estri-
bos (stirrups), a gift from
Col. (ret.) and Mrs. Henry
Luther. These were once worn
by South American cowboys
in the bush (or'brush) coun-
try. Since this particular pair
was heavily encrusted, when
dug up in Medellin, Colombia,
acid baths and much elbow
work was required to restore
them to their present condi-
tion.
A charcoal drawing of Ye
Kendall Inn done in the 1920’s
by a daughter of Mrs-. Pearl
Hazen, is in the case too. The
picture was given to Molly
Anstiss who later presented
it to your Boerne Public Li-
brary.
There are some old news-
papers. One is a page from
a Boerne paper printed in De-
cember, 1907. There is a part
of another newspaper printed
Oct. 14, 1878. Another is an
issue of The United Land Reg-
ister, Vol. HI, Boerne, Ken-
dall County, Texas, Friday,

REPORTED ON INCREASE
Increases in immunization
of youngsters against child-

32 percent for one disease

as a result of a month-long
campaign in October, it was

Girl Scout Troop 354 will
hold a Court of Awards Dec.
21, 1973. The girls have been
working on seven badges: Re-
porter, Animal Kingdom, Ce-
ramics and Pottery, Child
Care, Horsewoman, and
Sports.
The troop went to San An-
tonio Saturday, Nov. 24, and
visited the Witte Museum,
the San Antonio Zoo, and the
Express-News.
The last meeting was held
at the Skyview Ceramic Shop
where we learned about and
worked with clay. Our next
meeting will also be at the
Skyview Ceramic Shop.
OFFICERS BUSY
The law enforcement offi-
cers were very busy last
week.
Arrests were made and
cases filed by the Highway
patrolmen, the Sheriff’s de-
partment, the City police de-
partment and the Wildlife
officials (game warden).
Two traffic accidents oc-
curred resulting in one vie-
tim being carried to the hos-
pital and heavy property
damage to each car.
There were seven cases
filed for game violations. One
involved the shooting on the
highway of a little 15-lb. doe
deer. The deer was shot with
bird shot fired from a shot-
gun. These are the type of
hunters that are helping cause
the shortage of deer, not the
weather or starving to death
as some of our sophisticated
sports editors on our dailies
in Texas would have you be-
lieve.
Three trespassing cases
were filed, all of them oc-
curring near Sisterdale.
Drunks were numerous,
four being arrested over the
weekend. We presume they
were being ’’thankful.”
