SEVENTH GRADE PUPS
The Seventh Grade Pups
ended the 1973 football season
last Thursday night in Somer-
set with a 26-0 victory. Scott
Richter paced the Pups on of-
fense, scoring eight points,
one TD, and a 2-point conver-
sion. Tom Randall, Wesley
Burke, and Richard Ortega
each scored one touchdown.
The Pups’ offense rolled up
seven first downs and 145
yards while the Pups’ defense
held Somerset to two first
downs and 61 yards-.

A good, well prepared seed-
bed prepared well in advance
of planting time will help as-
sure a good stand of coastal
bermudagrass next spring.
“More failures and poor stands
of grass is related to poor
seedbeds in nearly every case,”
says Blesing.
Here are a few reasons why
a good seedbed is important.
Moisture is the key in getting
grasses established. Without
moisture, a seed or sprigs will

The second annual Hill
Country Bowl will be played
Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
it the Boerne (new) high
school stadium. The event,
started last year, features the
All-Stars from the Boerne
Junior Football League tak-
ing on the All-Stars from the
Northwest Y.M.C.A. of San
Antonio. Each team will be
made up of the best football
players from their respective
leagues and should provide ex-
citing action for the specta-
tors.
The first game played last
year was won by the Y.M.C.A.
All-Stars by a score of 12 to
6. The Boerne All-Stars will
be looking to even the score
this year. Coach Frank Pat-
terson says that Boerne All-
Stars are bigger this year.
“Last year we only had two
boys on the All-Star team
that weighed 100 pounds.
This year we will have 11 or
12 boys that weigh between
100 and 110 pounds, and they
know how to hit. However,
we don’t underestimate the
Y.M.C.A. boys. They’re as big
as we are and bigger and they
each have several years ex-
perience in the Y.M.C.A. pro-
gram.”
Tickets for the Bowl game
are on sale at the Handy
Pantry. Admission will be $1
for adults and 50 cents for
children. Proceeds from the
game will be used to purchase
more and better equipment
for the league next year.
Everyone is invited to come
out and support the Boerne
All-Stars in their battle

bermudagrass is January,
February and first of March.
It is important to sprig coast-
al while it is dormant. This
makes it possible to dig up
the sprigs and replant them
without their dying. The dor-
mant sprigs placed in moist
soil' will become established
and when spring arrives they
are ready to grow.
