ed Tuesday and
stopped for lunch
at Cleo’s on her
way home from
Dallas with her
husband Ed Bennett
and daughter Jo-
anne Babbitt.
Cleo and grand-
daughter Katie
Cook got a joint
(March and April)
birthday celebra-
tion at Gerald
and Rita’s in
Stephenville re-
cently, with all
the three genera-
tion immediate
family present.
Katie was two.
We don’t know
about Cleo.
Homecoming Chair
man Raymond Han-
cock has called a
meeting for Thurs-
day night, with
Raymond and Coda
Vaughn as hosts.
Homecoming is the
last Sunday in
June, but Raymond
always gets an
early start. That
is one reason it’s
always so much
fun.

Carpet “Party Wien”
Without Wetting
April showers bring spring
flowers—but they also
create mud for little feet to
track onto your carpeting.
We recommend HOST, the
new method of cleaning car-
pets without wetting. Use
carpet immediately after
cleaning. Borrow our re-
markable HOST Electric
Up-Brush. It’s easy. Clean

plans to take
orders for special
requests from all
comers.
Ray Echols came
home from the
hospital in Fort
Worth last week
and Gladys Woods
and Wynelle Stra-/
cener visited him
in the Dublin
Hospital Monday.
They drove on over
the Stephenville
but got so in-
volved admiring
the wild flowers
they forgot who
they’d gone to
see. Gladys has
been too busy
mowing and hoeing
to go very far or
answer the phone.
I told her we had
a yard full of
bloomin’ weeds,
but she said her
weeds weren’t
blooming. Her
problem is, she
chops them down
too soon.
Theola Tatum is
busy decorating
her box for the
supper—she’11
probably take the
prize--but she,
Dovie Traweek, Ona
Hancock, Gladys
and several others
from here stopped
long enough to
guilt last Wednes-
day in Dublin,
with Willie Sewell
and Juanita Ross
as Hostesses.

Raymond Hancock
has the history
on Laurel St.
Church, which
started life well
over a hundred
years ago as Oak
Grove Methodist
Church, at Shiloh.
Later a church
and school were
built at Live
Oak, and the con-
gregation moved
to this more cen-
tral location.
In 1877 a new
church was built
called Bynum
Church., in what is
now Elder Tackett’
place. At this
stage, some of the
Shiloh members
moved their mem-
bership to the
Edna Hill Church,
but many of them
stayed with the
Bynum congregation
which later moved
to Purves. The

of eating in and
decided to stage
an old fashioned
Box Supper at the
church Saturday
night. The
method in this
madness (their
first cause) is
to raise money
for redecorating
Sunday School
rooms. Everybody
is invited to
come to the sup-
per--the ladies
to bring a box
supper for two
(suggested menu:
two gift wrapped
sandwiches), the
fellows to bring
pockets full of
