The competitive price position
of American upland cotton in
the domestic market has been
improved by the April passed
legislation which cut net cost of
raw cotton to users. The rate of
cotton consumption for the May-
July quarter — last of the cur-
rent season — is expected to in-
crease and raise the total for the
full season to 8.6 million bales.
Thus carryover should be down
slightly from earlier estimates,
to 12.4 million bales.

organizational meeting of the
Brenham Production Credit As-
sociation which was held at the
court house in Brenham on Dec-
ember 21, 1933. The first loans
were made in the spring of 1934.
Reports reveal that the first re-
payment to loans came from
calves selling at $7.00 per head.
Alton Cook from the Credit
Bank in Houston presented a
most interesting film showing
the “Progress of Agriculture.”
R. W. Hintz, field representa-
tive of the association since its
organization was presented a 30-
year service award by its mem-
bers. He is manager of the Sealy
field office.
During the 30-year history,
the Brenham Production Credit I
Association has made loans in
excess of $40 million, with total
loan losses of only $8,693.00.
This outstanding record has con-
tributed to the increase in agri-
cultural values over the period
of time and the sound credit
factor of extending credit ac-

three judges who will pick a
winner from 13 pretty girls com-
peting for the title of Miss
Frolic 1964 at today’s 30th an-
nual Sealy Firemen’s Frolic at
Firemen’s Park. Miss Sandy Ay-
cock and Paul Daughtry of
Houston and Mrs. Hal Cardiff
of Katy will judge the contest-
ants on poise, personality, ap-
pearance and beauty. Miss Sam-
mie Williamson of Houston,
holder of the 1963 title and
current Miss Houston, will pre-
sent the trophy to the new win-
ner.
Frank Krampitz, Jr., mem-
ber of the local fire department,
will serve as master of ceremon-
ies for the evening.
Fire Chief Harry Nowak and
the 30 members of the volunteer
departmtent, invit the public to
attend , the annual event and
lend their support in this en-
deavor to raise fund’s for the
organization’s yearly operations.
Miss Diane Balloun, entered
as Miss Houston Universe in

a runner-up in the '63 event,
has added greater acclaim and

this year. She won the Miss Tex-

ton in the fall and major in ele-
mentary education.
