and ranchers will be eligible to
receive emergency loans to sup-
plement their credit needs dur-

The basic objectives of the
emergency loans are to assist
eligible applicants to continue
their normal farming or live-

local sources of credit as soon
as possible. These objectives
will be accomplished through
the extension of credit and such
supervisory assistance as is de-
termined necessary to achieve
the objectives of the loan.
All applications will be re-
viewed by the local FHA Coun-
ty Committee to certify the elig-
ibility of each applieant

is composed of LeRoy J. Krueg-

man of Wallis, and Ernest Teg-
eler of Kenney.
Even though the county ap-
pears to have harvested a good
crop, there were still some areas
of the county where the crop
yields were very low. Most of
the poor yields were due to the
drought conditions. These same
areas did receive rain later but
too late to save the crops.

election and Senator Barry
Goldwater, Republican, asking
for a first term as chief execu-
tive of the United States. Vice
presidential candidates on both
sides are Hubert Humphrey and
Wm. Miller, respective party
nominees.
There are party choices in the
U. S. Senatorial race, congress-
man - at - large, congressional,
gubernatorial, lieutenant gover-
nor, attorney general, and oth-
ers. Check the sample ballot as
listed elsewhere.
There is no party contest in
Austin County, with all names
appearing on the ballot being
Democratic party choices.
Every qualified voter is urg-
ed to visit the polls and cast a
ballot for the candidate of his
or her choice. No matter how
the vote is cast, be sure to per-
form the duty of a loyal citizen
and visit the polls. It is a priv-
ilege to be exercised in a free
nation.
There are 1392 poll tax hold-
ers in Austin County, and how
many exemptions for those over
65 years of age it is not known.
A heavy vote is anticipated by
County Judge Adolph Mikeska
and County Clerk Lawrence
Dittert. They urge all voters to
cast their ballots early so that
tabulations may begin and a
long delay may be avoided after
the polling stations are closed.
An early vote will help judges
and clerks to complete their
count at an earlier hour.
