rabbit delivering eggs was
introduced by German settlers
who arrived in the 18th century.
Their word for the bunny was
Oschter Haws.
In "Easter the World Over,’
Priscilla Sawyer Lord and ,
Daniel J. Foley (Chilton. 1971)
write that the bunny was
supposed to be such a shy
creative it hid nests of full of
colored eggs in secluded spots
on Easter eve.
The eggs were a reward to
good children, who sometimes
used their caps or bonnets as
nests. Others were made with
fancy paper. Elaborate baskets
as we now know them came
later when the tradition spread
throughout the United States.

The federal bureaucracy has
been growing under Carter.
Federal civilian employes, ex-
