Sue Hatch speaks
to club Oct. 22
By Waldine Walker
Special Contributor
Sue Ellen Hatch, guest
speaker for the Oct. 22 meet-
ing, spoke on "Seasons of
Time." In her talk she illus-
trated flower arrangements
with Bible themes. Her first
inspiration to do this type
arrangement came when her
mother was ill.
"God impressed me to filter
everything through His word,
which I have Continued to do."
Mrs. Hatch said.
One wreath was adorned
with a red bow, red apples,
berries and other fruit. She
explained that the apples
meant we are the "apple of
His eye.''
The fruits represented dif-
ferent seasons. Some seasons
may be very long while other
only last a few minutes or
maybe days and can overlap
with other seasons.
"Our seasonsbegin when we
are born andendwhen we die,"'
Mrs. Hatch said. "The whole
wreath is an invitation for
daily visits with God through
prayer whatever the season
of the year or the season of
trouble or joy.''
The idea for another wreath
came from Ecclesiagtes 3:1. It
Was decorated with 10 snow-
flakes to represent that, people

word of God extending fro m

neys to convey one safely over

Waters of trouble and turmoil.
It was decorated with pine
cones and berries.
A small apple cider barrel
was filled with large pieces of
candy, apples, pine cones and
needles and adorned with a
red and white si ripped bow.
Mrs. Hatch said, "This ar-
rangement reminds me of my
grandmother's store where
she sold apple cider from a
similar container and how
good the store smelled with
the cider, fresh apples and
peppermint candy and the
Warmth of the wood stove.''
The Bible reference was I
Kings 17 where Ehjah, a man
of God, stretched himself over
the body of a young boy and
prayed that he be restored to
life and is displayed in the
stretched stripes of the bow.
Abasket of "praise and wor-
ship'' featured a bow of gold
ribbon to represent a golden
crown, a golden trumpet to call
the church to remembrance
and fruit to remind everyone
of their bountiful blessings.
During the business portion
of the meeting the club was
reminded of the Christmas pa-
rade on Dec. 2, the Christmas
party at Lexington Place on
Dec. 10 and the club voted to
serve as judges for the window
displays around the square.
