GULF STORES
One of the most successful
young coaches in the nation- is
Royal, whose recovery program at
Texas has been quick and lasting.
Royal came to Tevas in 1957 and
since that time has a 39-13-2 rec-
ord with the Longhorns. Four of
those five seasons the Longhorns
have been in bowl games.
The 77 year-old head coach di-
rected the Steers to a spectacu-
lar 1M season last year, which in-
cluded a Cotton Bowl victory over
Ole Miss and a tie for the SWC
championship.
Texas tied for the championship
in 1959 also Coder Royal the
Longhorns show a remarkable 23-
9-1 record in conference play.
Royal is a former All America
quarterback at Oklahoma.
