thirds innings before being relieved. The Tigers used four pitchers in the con-
test, including Nelson, Matt Carr, Brad Bozeman and Wesley Martinez.
The Tigers' Brad Bozeman went two for four at the plate, including a double
and a single. He had one RBI and scored one run in the 14-8 loss to the
Bellville Brahmas during a practice game Saturday.

America, I felt the power of the infomercial and couldn’t resist
picking it up because Wal-Mart had it tagged cheaper than
any other place. Don't feel cheated, however, if you purchased
it from the infomercial number, you gained a couple of extra
videos with your package price.
For about thirty-five dollars, I bought myself a two-video
set: the Instructional video and the Basic Workout Video.
Enough to get me started and find out if Tae-Bo is even some-
thing I will stay interested in.
In the instructional video, seven-time World Martial Arts
Champion Billy Blanks takes you through the elements of
Tae-Bo: The Ultimate Total Body Workout. He teaches the
basic kicks, punches, etc. that he combines later in the work-
out. The Basic Workout video is anything but basic, and I
mean that in a good, great and fantastic way! The combina-
tions of movements in the video are challenging and fUn. You
will not be bored.
Speaking as a coach, I’ve got to applaud Billy. He’s a won-
derful instructor. He explains movements clearly and fully
with lots of options for the kicking-challenged. Hl say it again;
Tae-Bo is for the couch potato and the fitness freak. Everyone
will benefit from the skills learned and the fitness gained by
practicing Billy’s workouts.
Here are some Tae-Bo highlights that will make you want to
try and stick with it
Number one: You will feel like you have worked out before
ten minutes are even up. (I spoke to someone who got sore
from the stretching alone! She’s still going at it, though, more
every day. That’s determination!) Go at your own pace if you’re
new to working out. Billy’s a great one for encouraging you to
slow if you need to, but keep it up!
Number two: It’s not repetitively boring like standard aero-
bics. Unless you have been doing martial arts and boxing, the
movements are different, interesting, taxing and challenging.
When you’re finished you feel unconquerable! You're tough!
Nothing can shake you!
Number three: It will quickly put your gluteus maximus
back up where you wish it to be, thereby giving you some def-
inition between your hamstrings and your buttocks. In the
beginning, Billy tells you all about how good Tae-Bo is for your
thighs and glutes and he’s not lying.
Number four: Coordination and balance: two assets you
can’t have too much of.
In fact, I would say that the balance and coordination
required to do Tae-Bo perfectly are the perfect and best rea-
sons to do these workouts, you don’t need to already have a
highly developed sense of balance. Like in Yoga, your success
at Tae-Bo is in the pursuit of perfection. The more you kick
and punch, the better (and more proficient) you will become.
I’ve one problem with the video: a review can’t be all sun-
shine. One point Billy doesn’t cover adequately is breathing.
He tells you how to breathe in the instructional video, but not
how to breathe during the fast and furious movements con-
tained in the 'Basic Workout’ video. (If I missed it, someone
tell me where it is, or what I missed.)
A postscript for you who would prefer live teachers or really
like Tae-Bo and would enjoy varied routines. Someone (I don’t
know who) teaches a Tae-Bo class in Bellville. If you know who
runs the class, let me know and I’ll post it here. Write the
paper or email me at Freesweat@aol.com.
